A letdown after seeing markets in Guatemala, Turkey and others. I found this market quite boring and I paid 8 euros for a small carton of raspberries. Very overpriced and nothing spectacular art-wise. They had some animal hides but they were not fashioned into beautiful designs. Maybe if you're a seafood foodie but the market stinks too!

Markets are always fun to visit to check out local made wares as well as local food, this market offered a nice mix of both combined with sit down eateries. The seafood offerings were plentiful. The Hakaniemi market hall was currently under renovation but the market is temporary in a building next door. There were a few vendors set up outside as well. We can imagine that there are more vendors during warmer months. It was a fun place to grab a bite to eat. We had a delicious shrimp sandwich (it was a large sandwich) and a smoked salmon on rye bread, accompanied with wine. Only one red and one white was available, served by the glass.

We visited on a day trip from Estonia. The market was vibrant and offered a first time visitor a look at the local wares from Helsinki. It a good destination to walk through on your way to other points of interest in the city.
