The white Carrara marble is the trademark of Aalto's masterpiece but it doesn't tolerate the Finnish climate. Already 30 years after the opening in 1971 the exterior of the building was replaced for the first time, now a new operation with Lasa marble will take place during the next two years. A small substitute hall in wood has been erected in front of the construction site. It looks interesting with a long sheltered corridor where the wooden pillars have still some branches intact. A restaurant with a large terrace overlooking the Töölö bay will enjoy mainly evening sun.

Used the conference hall for a meeting. What can I say? It's a large facility with several room options. Very spacious. The best part is that it sits in a park with access to the lake and, in another direction, access to museums.

This is one of the most important pieces of architecture in the world, built by Finland's greatest architect. Typical excample of Modern Nordic style, where all details are in place. Open throughout th day.

From the outside it's an architectural masterpiece of striking beauty. Inside it's "interesting" but here and there a bit bland - nevertheless, the tours are worth taking. The big problem comes when it's used for concerts. The acoustics in the main concert hall are awful. A singer with face pointing towards you is audible, but if they turn their face the sound almost disappears. The rather odd shape of the concert hall and the "acoustic tower" have caused problems from the outset. The very new concert hall a short distance away now allows Finlandia Hall to be appreciated for its architecture and used more appropriately as a conference centre.

This building designed by Alvar Alto stands out for its late modernism and contextual response. Viewing it from across the lake gives it a sculpturous appearance but as you get closer, the elevational treatment with alternate strands of white marble and dark windows mimics the appearance of a piano keyboard. The interwoven marble cladding to give the appearance of a woven garment takes very high level of detailing and construction accuracy. Spending a sunny summer afternoon in the lawns in front of it is a must do for any visitor to Helsinki.

I generally like Finnish design but this one did little for me. But it's convenient to the museums, so worth a stroll through.

The Finlandia Hall is a beautiful building - in terms of its architecture and design. It is functional and well arranged for meetings, exhibits and conferences.
Being located in the downtown area of Helsinki it is very easy to walk to the Hall. Definitely a well run and well maintained venue.

This exposition hall is a real labyrinth and not recommended for a large event. It may be suited for hosting multiple events at the same time, but going from
From the outside, the building looks modern but the interior clearly does not match that. The location of the hall, however is very nice: easily accessible by public transport (tram stop right in front) and is situated near the lake and a beautiful park.

Finlandia Hall by Alvar Aalto is the most famous example of modern Finnish architecture designed already in 1962 and finished a decade later. It is a precious venue for international conferences and popular music events situated in a park by the water and easy to reach on foot. The building is large but on entering you will find the atmosphere cosy with areas in different sizes connecting on several levels. There is hardly anything symmetrical in the design and when confronted with a question why he liked to draw unpractical small corners Aalto answered " I use them to sharpen my pencils".

Attended a four day conference at this venue at it certainly ticked all the right boxes. A great reception area, fantastic hall with great acoustics, and plenty of options for break out rooms. During the sessions, we were privileged to have the Sibelius Choir sing, and this is when we saw the importance of a building created for music performance. The sound was rich and warm. I just wished that we were able to hear the beautiful organ which is installed within the main hall.
