Perfect bike, the route that was recommended was great aswell had everything loose gravel, fat gravel, single trails, road. If you’re looking for a bike that will do all these things this place is theming stop place to go. Super friendly service, I emailed a couple of days before my planed ride and nothing was too much to ask! Garmin Mount... spd Pedals the bike was sorted the way I wanted it

When I Googled 'Gravel Helsinki' I've found the Breakaway.cc site, contacted them, and from there everything went very smooth. Accomodating, flexible and very welcoming. As a very nice surprising coincidence, they opened their shop the day of my bike hire, so very cheerful vibe. Patrons, mechanics, owners: everyone was very nice, talkative, funny and real bike enthusiasts. They even borrowed me sock (which I had forgotten). The gravel bikes are well maintained, excellent quality and prepared for every type of weather (unfortunately, rain in my case, but the Open gravel bike and wheel- and tyre-choice handled the weather and terrain terrific!).

Hi Laurens! Thank you so much for the feedback! Shame I didn't get to meet you in person, hopefully, next time. Yep, it rained all day all night actually so kudos to you for taking the challenge and ignoring the weather. We are working on a new season and there will be some interesting changes to our offerings. Just let us know if you're coming back! Best regards, Matti

I wanted to test out what the fuss about gravel rinding was about and had been toying with the idea of purchasing one. I found myself in Helsinki with a Saturday free and found the breakaway Helsinki website, contacted them and got an answer that they had one in my size and if I could send the measurements of my road bike from the picture that they have on instagram they would fit it for me. I called Matti later to confirm and talk about what I wanted to do with the bike. Super friendly discussion with him finalising what pedals I wanted, I explained that I had a day free and would love to do a 100km route gravel and forest trails he said, yep no problems I can sort out a nice route I will load that onto the Navi you can follow that! I picked the bike up on the Saturday morning and everything was ready, water bottles filled and the OPEN UP was ready to ride! The Breakaway workshop is for a bike enthusiast a sweet shop of dream bikes and components. Matti rode with me for a bit to show me a bit of the way and chat a bit, then turned back explaining a few climbs I should watch out for and off I went. The route first took me through wandering forrest with some quite steep climbs a few I really struggled for grip, it was really sunny so reading the navigation through sunglasses and the changing light was a bit of a struggle but most of the time it functioned smoothly, finishing off with a ride along the coast taking in some breath taking coastlines. The weather was perfect the whole way of my ride so I was extremely lucky All in all a super experience, the OPEN UP has opened my eyes to gravel riding (excuse the pun) the quality of the bike is very apparent and the rave reviews from much more time served cyclists is certainly not for nothing! Quality comes at a price and I think its worth every single penny. The beer and the nice chat at the end was a perfect way to end the day, I really had a lot of fun and if I have the opportunity to do it again I would do it in a heartbeat! If you are looking for well maintained high quality bikes plus excellent service then there is really nowhere else you need to look than Breakaway! Thanks again

Hi Matt, Thank you! Totally my pleasure to meet you and I appreciate the pun too. Still sunny and nice here but that is going to change soon... lucky you indeed. We are going to have a new location soon with more space for explicit bike pron, so prepare for that before your next visit to Finland. Hope to see you again!

Thank you Breakaway for this amazing weekend hitting the gravel and muddy roads around Helsinki! I highly recommend the Trail 2000: steep climbs and winding descents through the beautiful forest of the Nuuskio National Park. The bikes are super light, stiff and comfortable thanks to top-range components. The GPS cycling computer was really useful to find my route. And the staff is warm, helpful and gives good advice! Well, see you soon

I was very lucky to participate in a two day roundtrip to Fiskars organized by Breakaway Helsinki in early September 2018. The idea was to ride as much gravel as possible and to enjoy the beautiful scenery and a good company! There were about seven enthusiastic riders in this trip sharing the experiences with me. Breakaway Helsinki had organized me a high-quality Open U.P. Classic bike for this trip which was a unique way to experience a premium gravel bike (for the first time), including and premium maintenance! Three guys from Breakaway Helsinki made this gravle cycling trip very easy for us: Sami led our way to Fiskars and back and ensured that we experienced the best scenery and had our refreshments in unique and/or "must see" places, Gökhan took an enormous good care what comes to the maintenance and test experience and Matti kept up a good spirit in the group all the way to Fiskars and back! During the trip I was able to test two different sizes of Open U.P. Classic bikes as well as different wheels and this was definitely the best way to experience the actual differences between the setups. The trip to Fiskars and back was the most memorable experience for me! I will definitely participate in similar trips in the future and can honestly recommend Breakaway as a professional and high quality service provider for all bike enthusiasts!
