If you want to visit the wonderful Lake, I recommend staying at a campsite with a private beach. We stayed a night at Bellevue campsite which is 2 star but makes up for basic facilities with fantastic access to a lovely little beach. Ideal for kayaking and swimming. The place also had a nice bar terrace and a good burger van so pretty much ideal if you are touring. We are in 3.5 tonne motorhome and I don't think anything bigger would have got in - terraced site

It was beautiful, but felt wrong to have to pay to go to any of the beaches on the lake. We went to Lepin le lac beach which was nice, with a restaurant next to it. But it’s quite shingly and there isn’t much shade despite the trees in the middle of the day.
Sougay beach better - but was a bit put off by the security and bag search! Somewhat contrasts with the natural atmosphere that one is seeking.
Also to need to provide photo ID to rent a small pedalo boat seemed ridiculous. As we don’t take our passports to the beach our child was disappointed that we couldn’t hire a pedalo ( this was not the case at Annecy so seemed peculiar to this lake).
Also oddly no shop near the beaches.
You really need a car to enjoy this lake ( unlike lake Annecy ).

Lac d'Aiguebelette is located high in the French Alps and we visited as part of our grand tour of all countries bordering the Alps.
The scenery is breathtaking deep blue waters and snow capped mountains. Great picnic spot.

Was rather dissapointed with the lac.
We usually go to Annecy Lac but thought we would stop here on the way back from a mini break in the south. It does not compare.
Couldn’t find any beaches free beaches. Ridiculous that you have to pay to go into the “beaches”. Even if we didn’t have the dog we wouldn’t want to pay the €5 entry fee. All rather commercial!

I picked up two families and my wife and drove from Lyon to this lake just for a day out! We had carried our al our beach gear and had some takeaway food. We found a parking spot (luckily) coz it's almost impossible except for th epatient ones and then settled down to enjoy the lake!
We really had a lovely time just swomming and letting the kids play with water!

We spent an amazing day in Saint Alban Plage. Access price is 5 eur/ person ( expensive I think) and there is free parking next to the entrance. There is a small beach, lockers, restaurant ( hot dogs, burguers, salads... with reasonable prices) and you can rent Stand up paddle (10 €/h per person), pedalo ( 24 €/h the big one with toboggan for 6 persons).

With a surface area of 5.45 km2 and a depth of 71 meters it is one of the largest natural lakes of France. A perfect location for a day-trip outside the city. One and a half hour drive of Lyon, bring a picnic and settle on the lake shore.
Some "beaches" offer rentals for canoes and pedal boats, a fun way to get playful in the water!

Paying to use a beech on a lake is a bit much. We don’t do this in Britain.
Lake is clear for sure, nice trees and alike but so so busy. Parking is a nightmare. Would strongly advise to look elsewhere.

This lake has natural boundaries and is 70 m deep and no motor boats - excellent for nature and swimming. Rent a pedalo and off you go! Water temp is better than other lacs in the region. I found the water clean and clear.
Carefully select a restaurant because some are quite average and others good!

One of my favourite places to have a relaxing time sitting, reading and soaking up the sun. The warmest lake in Europe so I have told. Enjoy warm waters to swim in.

Non pas de casiers sur les plages publiques. il va mieux emmener juste le nécessaire et un peu d'argent.
