The road goes from Turku to the Russian border and passes through or near Helsinki, Porvoo, Loviisa, Pyhtaa and Kotka before continuing to the border. You know when you're on it as it's well signposted in Swedish and/or Finnish on signs that have a crown on them. I've only ever done the drive from Helsinki to Kotka and the true road takes you through many interesting villages, towns and places of beauty. Try it instead of the main road/motorway to the east.

Although the King's Road in Finland starts in Turku, I've only done part of the eastern section. I've been on it last year through Loviisa where it passes between the fortress bastions of Rosen and Ungern.
Then comes Ruotsinpyhtää and the old ironworks and church, both of them worth a visit. Crossing over the Kymi river at Ahvenkoski, one can see the huge power plant.
Over the river is the town of Pyhtää where the medieval church has to be seen. I find the paintings on the walls to be so moving. After this the road goes through Siltakylä. I love the old bridge here (Siltakylä means "Bridge Village) which was kept for foot traffic when the new road bridge was built right beside. The road goes on to Kotka and beyond after this.
Obviously I have been on parts of the route without exploring them. The slow coach from Helsinki to Kotka traverses parts of the road especially around Porvoo and towards Kotka itself.
I go to Eastern Finland every year and will have to do a detailed trip along the whole of the section from Siltakylä eastwards. If I do, I'll come back and review.

We enjoyed a beautiful sunny day in July and took a walk along this road and to see the vistas, people watch, and stop at taste local foods. Take your camera and walk early in the morning as the sunlight is perfect.
