The Karhunkieros Keino trail leads over the forestal hills along the river side deep beneath us. The trail leads over the Karhunkierros hanging bridge and a little further shows the imposing waterfall after the red granite canyon. In one word a splendid trail. 5/5

We went there this week and walked the 12 km trail. The views were beautifull, with nice hanging bridges. The trails, especially the stairs, were very slippery and sometimes even scary in my opinion. But that's also a good challenge.

There are two leghts for Karhun kierros. We did the smaller and it is a nice day trip. The longer one is something quite different. Karhunkierros offers nice views and endless stairs up and down so this serves also as an excercise.

Good trip. Enjoyed the 82 km. Walked it in 4 days. Beautiful landscapes. Track was well marked, getting lost is nearly impossible. Some parts are easy and some are hard, especially the mountains. I recommend this to anyone with a basic shape. No hiking experience...More

You hardly can find any parking on the route. Most of the places are acessable by foot only.

Karhunkierros transport question (3 Replies)
I'm planning to do the Karhunkierros-trail this June but can't find a bus schedule for that time. The Ruka-website gives me only the winter schedule (and says there is only a bus in the afternoon from Ruka to Hautajärvi). I did found a 2015-schedule which says there is a trail bus in the morning from Ruka to Hautajärvi ? Anyone has some information that can help me. Thanks in advance.

Thank you, I did want to travel early morning on the 1st of June to the Hautajarvi starting point, but that's not possible if I am correct (only in the afternoon) ? It says there is also an airport bus passing by the trailheads but it is referring to a Finnish website of a transport company ?

transportation from Inari to karhunkierros (Salla) (2 Replies)
Hi Everyone, Is the only way to get from inari to Salla is through Rovaniemi ? Also I looked up for a bus from kemijarvi to Karhunkierros visitor center and although the train operates on Sundays I coudn't find bus connection that day. Is there a way to reach Oulangan park on Sunday with public transportation? Thanks in advance, Hadar
