This library was completed in 1965.
It is one of the many libraries designed by the famous architect Alvar Aalto who also designed the Lappia House (Rovaniemi Theater) next to the library.
All of his libraries are known for the spacious library hall, book recesses, and skylights.
In addition to books, you can always find a small art exhibition at this library.

Library built by Alvar Alto. Simple and linear architecture. With reading spaces and interesting display of books. It contains a section dedicated to the Sami and some very ancient texts. A quiet and tidy place. To be seen

This beautiful building has been there since 1965. It is a design by the architect Alvar Aalto. Not only is the building special from the outside. Inside, it is also definitely worth seeing.

It's a small town, so definitely worth a walk to visit this beautiful place. Especially the design and feel makes it one of the best library that I ever visited. Considering that I do not read Finnish, and it is still interesting.
Finnish culture has great emphasis on library and their City Hall, in contrast to churches, or monuments or transportation like other cities. So some insights into the city culture. Beautiful !!!!!

A place for tourists and locals alike. It does not take long to se the library, but if you spend 15 minutes here, you can se the wonderful ideas of Alvar Aalto that are still here. Take a look at the furniture and the use of space and light.

A beautiful library designed by one of the best modern architects, full of light and character, plus a great collection, including english books and an extensive Sami and Lap collection.
Finland really knows how to make public libraries. Highly recommended when you need a quiet time to read or write while travelling.
