This was amazing, such a lovely experience. We were torn between doing a husky ride or reindeer and the trips were coming up at around £250 for one or the other. We went to Santa Claus Village and done both for less than that! We done the 1km (1000m) trail which went through the lovely snow filled forest. It probably took between 5 and 10 minutes which was plenty. They give you a reindeer blanket which was lovely.
We paid €29 for an adult and €15 for a child for the 1km one, there was a 400m one which was slightly cheaper. You could then buy a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle which was €5 each or a reindeer driving licence for €4 each.
An amazing experience would definitely recommend and think it was just the right amount of time as I think any longer would have been cold and a bit much.

Great visit especially with kids. We thought at first that we would just be able to see the reindeers through a fence, but it was much more than that. We were able to feed the reindeers, pet them and just spend some time with them.
The lady who was taking care of the reindeers was very professional and you could sence how much she cared about the reindeers. She was very friendly and we were able to learn a lot about reindeers.
It was also nice to know that the reindeers only spend a few hours "at work" and they are taken every day back to their natural environment.
Highly recommend this place!

I was visiting Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi in early April 2014. It was a very beautiful and sunny day of the end of the arctic winter. While visiting arctic circle we decided to make a small reindeer ride with friends with a company called "Santa Claus Reindeer": The place is located just behind the office of the "real" Santa Claus. The good point with Santa Claus reindeer company is that you can make small and short reindeer rides with them, that take less than a hour, and which are not expensive compared to "real" safaris in Rovaniemi (which cost over 100 € per head). We made a ride of about 1 km and it was something like 25-30 € per head. But this little ride was great chance to discover reindeer which is a really cute and nice animal. So I would recommend this for all the people like me who have a limited budget but who want to experience something originally "Lappish" :-)

While visiting Santa's Village I noticed the sleigh ride. Since I'd miss my chance for a husky safarri I decided to do this. There are two options, one for 17 euro per adult for a 400m ride around the track and another for 28 euro per adult for a 1000m thru the forest. The children's prices are 13 & 22 euro each respectively. I took the 1000m ride. You are covered in reindeer hides as you glide into the forest. I really enjoyed this ride and felt it was worth the price. You can check out their link for more information on a longer ride by request. http://www.santaclausreindeer.fi/reindeer-sleigh-ride/

Santa reindeers home is definitely one of the best places we’ve visited. They are so adorable and friendly. They bring positive energy. If you come to Santa Village , reindeers are must see. People are so kind there and treat all reindeers like their children 🤗 they are well taken care of, happy and healthy. Thank you so much Johanna and the team for warm welcome 😍❤️ hope we will come back one day.

Heading out today I felt a little bad for the reindeer pulling the weight of my family. I did not realise how strong, intelligent and playful these beautiful creatures are. Our guide was delightful, giving us so much knowledge about the reindeer and the area, and even an insight into Finnish people. We had a wonderful day on the 3 hour tour, a long ride followed by a sausage and hot berry juice in front of a fire. The sleigh is warm and cozy laying on a reindeer hide and with one of two hides on top, I would definitely wear a hat and gloves though. We cannot thank our guide enough for such an informative, enjoyable tour.

It was nice to see the Santa Claus reindeers. :) Our sons loved them... We had the thirty minute ride, which was like 3 kilometers. If you just want to try it, you can get the 1000 meter as well.

I went on the 1km reindeer sleigh ride at Santa Claus Village and it was the worst experience ever. The guy at the reins did not say a single word to me, he was quick to take my money however. The ride was over in like 15 minutes. He had 6 reindeers but for some reason, he kept taking my particular reindeer out. The reindeers looked underfed and tired. I suggest if you want to do a reindeer sleigh ride that you go on a proper safari instead of the short ride at Santa Claus Village.

We took the 3km ride and it was a bit disappointing. Too touristic. We thought the tour would last 2 hours but this was a misybderstanding. We only had a tour of 40min. We would like to see a reindeer farm and to learn much more about the animals. Hopefully the sausage and the gloki after the ride were good.

We did the reindeer safari and had an excellent time! The trek through the forest was beautiful! After a 30 minute ride in the sleigh, we pulled up to a teepee that had a fire inside to warm us up while we all drank glogi and grilled sausages. Then we went outside and watched the northern lights. We got back into our sleigh where we went to the fields with the young reindeer and were given food to feed them. The entire experience was really great and the hosts were very, very nice. I highly recommend it!

I saw from the website that the reindeer Ride is €29 for 15 mins, jus wanna check if the thermal overall is included in the price or we have to pay additional for the rental of the thermal overall?

No but they do cover you with a reindeer hide which is very warm. We did the 30 min drive and were fine in normal cold weather gear.

Hello, the difference between the rides are just the length of them or do they take different paths? Is the 30 minutes worth it compared to the 15 minutes, scenery wise?
Johanna
Rovaniemi, Finland
Hi
All the rides start and stop in the same place, Forest path takes a little turn on the forest side, but Winter adventure (35-45 minutes) goes so deep in the forest that there are places where you can't see houses.

Hello,
Is there reindeer rides in September?
Thanks
Johanna
Rovaniemi, Finland
Hello.
When the weather is cool enough and the reindeer have already grown the winter hair, then we can do the reindeer rides. And usually in September we can do the short 400m ride with sleight on wheels. Please contact closer to our email; info@santaclausreindeer.fi

Hi we are coming to visit on the 14th November is it possible to do the reindeer sleigh ride then please and do we need to prebook? Thank you :-)
Johanna
Rovaniemi, Finland
HI
In November we start reindeer rides with sleight as soon as we have snow. Usually that time the 400m should be ok.
Me and my family are planning on doing the northern lights reindeer safari but on the website it doesn't seem ideal for booking. It just shows a message bar. How can I book the safari?

We booked ours there, it's important to get the Northern Lights App and go by the forecast, not much point booking if there is no Northern lights forcast, there wasn't when we were there and instead we did a reindeer sled ride as the sun rose it was truly beautiful.

Hi,
Thanks for message. You don´t need to prebook, there are always open 400m and 1000m reindeer sleigh rides during opening times. Right now at high season we are open daily at 10:00-17:00.
There are 3km safari and the Northern lights-safari that you have to book in advance. You can ask about possibilities at janne.korkko@santaclausreindeer.fi
