- Paola EHelsinki, Finland93 contributionsFantastic place for small kidsWe loved this museum. Yes, it’s small but not lacking things to do. We spent over 2 hours there and had to drag the kids away (ages 5 and 7) because they could have easily filled another hour. I loved that the museum was interactive and clearly designed with children in mind (yet fun for adults too). For example the nearby Artikum is the opposite and the kids struggled there. In Pilke they had a lot to activities to do and they could touch whatever they wanted. We learned a lot about forests, sustainability, eco-friendly materials, Finnish nature. Both my kids gave it a 10/10. If you have small kids this is definitely a place you wanna visit! Tickets are affordable and children under 7 enter for free.Visited December 2020Traveled with familyWritten December 23, 2020
- Veyza2 contributionsAn unusual playgroundIf you want to play like if you were a child but you feel too adult for it, then visit Pilke, it's a museum, going to museums is okey for adults =) Just take at least one friend with you and it will be a good time. Relatively little information for a museum, just some curious facts and stories. Everything can be touched, cool photos are guaranteed. When your head is going to blow out full of knowledge after Arkticum you can relax in Pilke. 1-2 hours for a visit if you come with children or a big company of friends. Up to 4 people can manage in less than 1 hourVisited January 2020Written January 14, 2020
- mickCricklade, United Kingdom10 contributionsGreat Experience and Fun for Children and Adults alike.Great interactive centre for children. We went here in November 2021 with 3 children from 5 to 7 and they loved it. Plenty of things to try including climbing on a large log and tree cutter as well as other interactive displays. Also a nice cafe where you can eat your own food and purchase drinks.Visited November 2021Written December 1, 2021
- RiddykinOulu, Finland83 contributionsWonderful science centre for a short visitFirstly I have to say the centre is quite small. That surprised us at first. But when you enter the exhibition you realise the interactivness is the key to a great visit. Every little detail is well thought through. You get to experience the Northern forests with all senses! Our family had a great few hours touching, smelling, feeling and learning - also singing karaoke and getting lost in the woods. 😄 The staff here is super: do ask them for guidance. Also the Pilke shop is a good spot to scout for souvenirs.Visited October 2021Traveled with familyWritten March 12, 2022

Also next door Arktikum museum, also fun and educational for kids, adults and family. - B TLondon, United Kingdom1,140 contributionsSmall and not much to seeI thought this was overpriced for what you get. It should be renamed as it is much more about forestry than general science. There are very few artefacts to look at and most displays are more interactive and would be better for younger children (5-10). I didn't learn anything and would recommend going to the Arktikum instead. You can get combined tickets for here, the arktikum and the korundi centre but I would not buy a ticket especially to go in here.Visited November 2020Written November 30, 2020
- Felix G17 contributionsInteresting afternoon with some funny activitiesIt was interesting but it looks like a lot of stuff focuses on wood and paper industry. Could be a bit of marketing to justify the needs for forest industry in Finland. The experiments were partially interesting but lot of it had no common context. I was missing a bit the concept (or did not understand it). However, it was entertaining and educational which was the main reason for our visit.Visited February 2022Traveled with familyWritten February 12, 2022

The Pilke-house is one of the biggest wooden structures in Finland and the exhibition tells about sustainable use of forests. Pilke- house is beautiful inside - You´ll be suprised when you'll enter to the lobby - Full of light, air and over 65 feet (20 meters) high wooden structure. And the best place - Science Center - is in the middle of this space. It´s not a big exhibition - but very interactive and innovative - We easily spent 2 hours and had lot of fun hunting, singing, discovering...

I've never been to Pilke before, and when i first got inside i was amazed how beautiful the building was from the inside. I don't think there is anything more you could do to improve it, there was much to do and to learn about the forest.
