We recently went on the10km Safari having seen the excellent reviews and booked well ahead. It was such a wonderful experience for us as a family of four. It really felt like a personal experience and you could see that Rami cared a lot about the well being of the huskies and the safety of those on the safari. The scenery was breathtaking and was one of the highlights of our Christmas in Lapland. Thank you also to Sari who dealt with our booking efficiently and was prompt to respond to any questions

Rami and his team were fantastic and very welcoming. It was evident that they cared about their huskies and they were natural hosts which made the whole experience amazing for all of us.
The weather on our trip was stunning but absolutely freezing (painfully so) meaning we did not wish for more than the 5km and were really glad to retreat to their hut and camp fires! In warmer weather a longer ride might be preferable but we had a great time.

Have just returned from our Lapland adventure , and this tour certainly made it for us !
We stayed at the Hotel Saaga , in Yllas . And before we went we decided to do our homework . We decided to email them directly and book a tour . We went for the 23 km Safari , and wow ... What an experience ! The price for about a four hour tour was €149 per person . We took a taxi from the hotel in Yllas and I would say it was around 15 mins top to Ramis Huskies station at a cost of €30 each way .. We arrived and was warmly met by the staff , very friendly and hospitable ....
They make sure you are well prepared by looking at your clothing , as they have had people just turn up in jeans . They will clothe you if you need any layers , but it would be easier to mail them with your sizes . We was already clothed , so declined ....The tempature was -26 and we was warm with our choice . We met with Sari , and what a fantastic lady , kind and informative .. She introduced us to our guide , a young lady who was so experienced with her dogs that it made our trip so smooth .
We was took out into the national park , the scenery was out of this world . Ramis huskies are the only dog sledging team allowed in the National park near Yllas . If you do the huskies with a tour group they use other teams up to an hour away by coach .
We spoke to some friends at the hotel and as they was in a large group they did not get much time with the huskies on scheduled tours .
Would definitely choose this company again ... Total cost for 2 adults was €298 ( 26th December 2014 ) ... For the 23 km safari .....
Thank you all at Ramis for a perfect Christmas .......

I had been looking forward to the huskie rides but Rami's huskies managed to exceed my expectations. It's really fun for someone looking for a bit of excitement but also suitable for everyone else. Employees and the owner are very nice, love their animals and take good care of them.
Managed to book on the previous day but for busier seasons should try to book in advance. Went on the 5km trip which was good but 10km would've been nice too.
Highly recommended! Thanks Rami and the crew for the experience!

We booked 5 months in advance and were told only the 15km safari was available (128€ each), and were told to come at 10am for a 3 hours ride.
When we arrived at Rami's huskies at 9.45am, a guy told us to hurry while we were taking picture, like we were late.
But there were only us two, and a mum with her kid. They made us pay and gave us warm clothes.
We were ready in no time but we waited for another group, not ready at all, to leave as they blocked the path, and we left only at 10.30am.
As we left just after the group which was extremely slow, we kept braking it was quite boring.
We then stop only 30min after departure to make a fire and burn a plastic sausage, a 40min break.
It was 11 am, we weren't tired or hungry yet so it wasn't necessary.
We then went again for another 40min with the dogs and stopped again...
At the camp..! We were already back!
So only 1h50 - including the break.
We felt a bit scammed. The scenery was wonderful and the dogs adorable, but they shouldn't sell a 3h tour when it's less then that (the 2h tour is 100€ instead of 128, and the 1h tour is 60€).
254€ for us two, on one sledge, for such a short time riding, is completely overpriced.
I know understand why the push for you to take the 3h ride..
When we asked why it was so short, they said "you now have time with the dogs!" But if we booked the 1 hour tour we would have had the option too, and saved a lot of money (or perhaps the one hour tour actually last 10 minutes and includes a 50min sausage break....)
We unfortunately don't recommend and would use another tour if had known.
Also if you truly love animal, know that any dog that is limping will "go to heaven", and so will all the dogs when they get old.
It is truly a business, and not a passion.
The staff wasn't particularly nice.

Really glad that we managed to go for the 10km husky ride. Is an experience for both me & my husband. We pre-booked our safari directly with Rami's huskies (much cheaper than tagging onto other safari company), and were greeted by one of the guides at the door front. Firstly, we were given clear instructions of how to control the sledge. After which, we were led to our sledge & met our ultra-hyper excited and energetic huskies. The non-stop barking and excitement really made us "WOW" in disbelieve!! These huskies only stopped barking after they started running. Love the ride, and both of us had the chance to be the driver. Amazing experience. Those huskies were well-trained.
After the ride, we were given ample time to play with all huskies, before we had some snacks and chat in an indoor tepee with fireplace, followed by more time with huskies before saying goodbye. Would recommend anyone to go for huskies safaris.

In life I have not yet found my true niche and tend to oscillate wildly between "intrepid explorer" and "terrified". So, when I emailed Rami's for a mini-trip and was told that the only safari left available was the longest one - 23 kilometres lasting four hours- I accepted to look brave in front of my boyfriend, but spent the time in leading up to it in a state of mortal dread.
I need not have feared! It was a brilliant and exhilarating experience, fun for brave people and less brave people (ahem: me) alike. It's fascinating right from the get-go when you are led out to 100 (healthy-looking) dogs all barking and howling for walkies, six to a sleigh. Fortunately driving instructions are very simple and there is only really go, slow and stop to master (achieved by putting your weight on the sled in different ways). There were only four sleds in our group and we sped off at speed past some fantastic arctic scenery, then stopped just over half way for hot blueberry squash and sausages round a fire (tofu sausage for me which was surprisingly yummy, plus a cheese toastie).
Bear in mind: (1) it ain't cheap. Cheer yourself up by looking at how much more expensive it would be to do the same thing nearby in Sweden. (2): you may, yes really, fall off. I and my boyfriend didn't but the Finnish mum and daughter in front of us did. Snow cushions the impact so it doesn't seem to hurt too much!

Our plan for the second day in Lapland, we'd pre-booked and were met at the gate by one of the guides who already identified us before we'd even indtorduced ourselves. She took great care to make sure that everyone was properly dressed and provided additional clothing for those of us (party of four) who needed it. I was amused to see her express doubt at my friend's choice of footware (a local who was waring finnish army boots that he also wore when dumped in the arctic during compulsory millitary training) but eventually relented. There were four of us and about 10 other people. So the entire group consisted of about 8-9 sleds including the guides. I believe we ran a 16km tour, though I am not entirely certain about this.
The dogs are stunning animals and are just bursting with excitement and enthusiasm. My wife was piloting the second shed on the way to the half-way point and had to almost continually hit the break because they kept running off and catching up to the lead sled. When my partner's doubled gloves proved to be cold because of the wind, the guide provided extra large leather gloves which she was carrying for emergencies. Exceptional care.
The half-way point provides a rest for the dogs and what my finnish friends jokingly called 'traditional fire-roasted sausages', since they seem to be favourite with the expidition companies around here. I found them to be a welcome snack along with the warm drink. Also, finnish mustard is excellent, but I digress.
I had a chance to pilot the sled during the second part of the tour, and even though the dogs had been running for over an hour now, the power of the sledding team is astonishing. I was surprised to hear our guide comment that the weather really was much too warm for the dogs to run at any real speed (it was only -14), apparently they go much quicker at temperatures below -20. Keeping the dogs from running of during stops required my full weight on the brakes, because otherwise they would just start running again, it was an exhilirating experience to run with these amazing animals. Since we were making good time and the group wasn't too large, the guide had us stop at a frozen lake and was kind enough to take some pictures with our cameras. For someone who worked in dutch tourism during my university years, it was hard not to smile at the similarities.
When we got back, the guide approached us again and we had a very entertaining chat, she also absolutely refused to let us go before she'd shown us the kennel with the 'puppies'. All in all an amazing experience. 10/10 would buy again.

This was probably the highlight of our Lapland tour. Despite the weather we really enjoyed this outing. On arrival, we were briefed on the ride and how to handle the sledge. The dogs were very eager to get going and were howling and barking. It is so loud that one are almost unable to talk to one another. Once we got going it turned to complete silence and all you could hear is the dogs panting and the sound of the sledge in the snow. It was amazing!
It was unusually warm during our stay in Lapland Finland, the temperatures varied between -3 and -1 degrees, and we had heavy snowfall during the ride. On the way back after we stopped to drink some coffee and heated some sausages on an open fire to eat, the snowfall stopped. Running the dogs in the snowfall made the trip even more special. The dogs did not run as fast as usual as they need colder weather not to overheat. The dogs are in very good condition and they look well looked after.
The people from Rami's Huskies were very friendly and helpful and answered all our questions. They are also the only operator in the area which is allowed to enter the Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park. Rami's does provide overalls if you do not have suitable clothing. We did not make use of their clothing as we had our own. The only thing we were missing was snow goggles as the snowfall was a bit heavy and the snow kept going in our eyes.
Once you get back to the camp after the ride you can warm up in their hut where they have an open fire, and you can drink some warm tea.
It was a lot easier that I thought it would be, and I think anyone is capable of steering the sledge. I highly recommend this activity.

Has any one taken a taxi from Levi to Rami’s? The dog sledding from Levi was not as good as Rami’s so would like to return but not sure how much it will be?

Best to book as early as possible as this is the only organisation allowed to run tours in the National Park and they are usually very booked up

Hi, I am coming to stay in Yllas on 24/12/17 with Thompson and am interested in the husky ride and visit to the snow hotel. Can you please advise prices and if we get collected from the hotel. There will be two adults and a 7 year old boy. We have a husky ride included in trip but I do not believe it will be the experience you offer. I am not sure of the itinery and when we are free as yet so how do I book. what different trips and prices do you offer. Any help and advise would be appreciated.

Hi. We are going to Yllas in December and would like to do the Husky Ride, sounds fantastic. Could I ask how much the ride costs please (we are a Family of 4) ? Are you able to book before you depart the UK? Many thanks

I see you've got your answer now but just to confirm our experience, we had a trip that included a visit to the Snow Village - cost €125 adults and €95 for 11 year old (don't know what age reduced price goes up to). Rami wanted a 50% deposit (in Euros by bank transfer) a couple of weeks before our holiday and the balance was paid at the end of the trip (he takes cards - not Amex). So, yes, you can (and should) book before leaving the UK. Price included entry and visit to Snow Village and a "soup, bread and drink" meal.

Just reading some excellent reviews of Rami's Huskies. We are travelling with Thomson (UK) in December & looking to book our excursions indepenently (probably 26/12/15 for husky trip). The Snow Village one sounds superb; how long is spent in the sleigh, is entry to the village included & is it suitable for kids of 7&9. Also, how much would a taxi be from Yllasvari (Saaga hotel) & can Rami's book this transporation for you?
Many thanks.
