The sidetrip from Rovaniemi's Santa Claus Village was quite worthwhile. The tour of the icebreaker was quite interesting. The standard lunch was unexpectedly quite good. The personal float in the pool in the ice created by the icebreaker was fun. This was not a cheap sidetrip, but I highly recommend it during the winter season, and until late March.

This is once in a life time experienced!! I really enjoy 4 hour long of journey into the ice of Gulf of Bothnia. It is so exciting when you hear the noise of ice breaking and if you are lucky, you may see the wild life such as a seal. On top of every thing, I like the idea of... More

We joined its afternoon tour in late March, we enjoyed it very much. A guide explained to us the history of this ice breaker and points to note for nice ice-breaking views etc. We had some food on the cruise and the salmon soup was tasty. It was amazing to witness so closely the ice crushing by this ice breaker.... More

Seeing the ice breaking under you is a marvelous sight. So much power in this that it is unbelievable. The ice water swim was also a great experience. The suites isolate so good you are not a bit cold. The food on the ship is also excellent

A must-go if you're planning to drop by Kemi and have money to spare. Highlight is definitely the ice swimming. Food is decent, tried the salmon soup, reindeer soup (a first for me; reindeer meat tastes like beef to me) and carrot coconut soup (reminds me of soupy curry).

Feeling the power, the speed and the amazing view makes it quite amazing and unforgettable visit. Adding to that the unique swimming in the ice water makes it a perfect place to be for half a day. We enjoyed it so much. Hope you too. Don't miss it.

We arrived to the ship on snowmobile as a party of 3 and had a private intelligent guide. After long detailed tour we had some free time before lunch. We had just the soup which was just fine. The way the ship breaks the ice is very interesting We then went for a short deep in the icy water. The... More

We just went on the Sampo icebreaker cruise last week with our 2 kids aged 5 & 6. It was unique experience for us to be on board an ice breaker that crushes 6 feet of frozen ice. We could still hear the sound of crushing ice after knowing the ship travelled the same route numerous time during the winter... More

You don't actually break much fresh ice, for the most part, the icebreaker travels through already broken ice so it wasn't very exciting. The best part was putting on the dry suits and taking a dip in the icy waters but I'm not sure I would've paid that much money just for that experience. The time management around the whole... More
