About
Röda Sten Konsthall is a unique place for contemporary art, located in an old boiler central right beneath the Älvsborgs Bridge. Here you’ll experience exhibitions, workshops, programs and shows, but also food, drinks and music. Outside of the house there’s a legal graffiti wall and from the restaurant you have a stunning view over Göta Älv. Welcome to Röda Sten Konsthall!

This was the unexpected highlight of my trip to Gothenburg. This old building is absolutely stunning to behold, and the way it has been converted into a gallery space is extremely impressive. The exhibition we saw - of Ylva Ogland's work - made perfect use of the cavernous, industrial space. Much more interesting than going to some stuffy old palace and looking at random second-tier impressionist works from around Europe. Don't miss it.

Was recommended this place for lunch (delicious with buffet and coffee for 85-), but when I got there I visited the Efterklang exhibition and was absolutely blown away. This disused brick factory housed some of the best art installations I've ever experienced, including The Forty Part Motet, a recording of a choir with one speaker per singer arranged around the "viewer". Incredibly powerful.

Special mention also to the girl at reception, she was lovely, passionate about the art and really interested in my trip. Made a great impression and improved my visit with relevant information.

If you appreciate contemporary art, installations, modern artists, and often huge artworks, then this is a must see location.

However, if you are a little bit older, you might feel that you just arrived from the moon to a completely different world. If you like museums, picture galleries, traditional artwork which you could relate to than this modern facility will require you to shift gears and expand your horizons.

Those who understand the current art scene, are extremely positive about the facilities, quality of exhibitions, activities for people, and the room for children to practice art things (Painting and constructions). Our grandchildren loved it here.

This museum has the amazing mentality of win-win for both the visitors and the artists. Staff is amazingly helpful, willing to share their opinions, and open to all sorts of ideas!

This is not one of the Göteborg city museums. It feels like it is a private foundation supporting the entire contemporary art movement.

Many times when we have visited on the weekends, there are some kind of an activity taking place outside. The outside walls of the museum are available (under instruction if you like) for both your graffiti and serious artwork to be placed for public display.

It seems that whenever we visited there were rooms/floors of installations, sculpture, photography, painting , and often some kind of a selling exhibition from local artists.

The quality of the exhibitions, the outstanding calendar of programs and events, make it difficult to believe that this institution is less than 15 years old.

Entry is 40 Swedish crowns. Discounts for students, discounts for younger people, not as cheap as the city museums, but certainly good value for money.

Also within the same facility is an outstanding middle eastern restaurant. There is always a vegetarian dish. Sundays is an outstanding HUGE vegetarian buffet (Skr 170). Recommended !!

A wonderful place (in an old warehouse) that serves great vegan food ( Sunday is vegan only). Was blown by the delicious and flavourful dish called “place in the Middle East”. I’m normally a meat person so for me to say I’m blown away, it must have been something great! :). The dessert was amazing great too with free coffee and tea.
Service was fantastic as well. In short - a very nice dining experience.

It's a bit hard to find but once you are there the great exhibtions as well as the amazing place will soak you in. I also was there for an event which collected many people from Gothenburgs art scene and showed Röda Sten's great standing in the local scene.

If you want to see live street art, you can go to Roda Sten Konsthall. There are free walls where urban artist makes free art. Inside of the building is a lovely restaurant

What a great moment! The only museum that is free for under 25 years people!

4 floors: 1rst floor one cosy and cheap restaurant and 3 floors with the current exhibition (created by bachelor students, till 7th may, which was inspiring!

The girl who welcomed me was really helpful and explained everything quite well!

The location is also worth watching because it is just next to (I mean under) the big nice bridge. Take tram 3 or 9 till Vagnhallen Majorna. Walk till the water and then on the left!

I love to bike or walk by here... under the Hisingsbridge... see the Stena boats passing by. You can have a good coffie, drink and food. Visit an expo... At summertime you can dance tango at the bridge on Sundays (look it up to be shore so they could swooped day).

This is a very different attraction in a nice historic district ( Klippan). A perfect example of how to convert an old industrial building in a place for social use and community friendly art. The nice coffee shop with a little terrace next to the sea is a must, the whole atmosphere is food for thought for how we can successfully recycle buildings, neighborhoods, art...

The website suggested it was open. We took ferry which is was very nice. The restaurant was open but not the exhibition space. Was still worth the effort - the graffiti art, the bridge, the water, the surrounds all have a vibe
