The boat trip over is about 1hr 15mins. We went on the first boat of the day so it was only around 20 of us onboard (they said it could have been up to 200). The island is ruggedly beautiful. I wish we had had more time to explore this beautiful place. Just make sure if you have children using a pushchair that you leave it behind. There is no real pathway and most of it is over rocks. In the end I folded our one us and carried it. Plus the loos are by the dock, so make sure you go before you take your stroll.

Went out on a RIB inflatable from downtown Göteborg,........-Weeeeeeeeeeee ! once out on the island, You are flabbergasted by the beautiful archipelago surrounding you ! The great songwriter Evert Taube grew up here, while his father was the lighthouse keeper.......there was a small school for the 6-10 children in the early 1900´s, now there is a restaurant and a wide option of spectacular views!

This island lives thanks to the effort of a bunch of people that decided to save it from being razed to the groung. They guide you trough it to make you see how hard yet beautiful life must have been to those who where estabilished there up to half a century ago. I liked it so much I decided to become too a member to sustain their cause of keeping the past alive!

The three structures on Vinga are an important seamark that everyone passes when arriving at or leaving Gothenburg by ship. But the island is not easy to reach except for the short summer period when trips run from the centre of Gothenburg. The island is exposed and windswept but if you are lucky with the weather it is a fine day out, and there is a sheltered swimming place as a bonus.
