I have been here in April due to the need of taking a break from everyday's life stress and work. I rented an apartment for one week and went hiking every day. During spring this place is really fantastic and quiet. For the most you will meet locals and other hikers. The stores, bakeries and markets are not open yet, tho. So if you are planning to wake up and have breakfast out you can forget it. Rather shop at the market over the water or at the local "Livs" on the island. The hiking path around the island is easily completed in maybe 2 hours (but that is my own speed). There are a lot of "secret places" to discover, depending on the path chosen for every crossroad. I really explored the island back and forth in one week and i didn't manage to "get bored over the landscape" because repeated it for too many times. No way. As a child-free person and not especially lover of big crowds all the time, i suggest you to avoid the place during summertime and high season in general, when families and tourists are populating the island. I visited Marstrand in June and the quietness experienced in April was completely gone and substituted with screams and fuzz everywhere. Like any other tourist destination. I got pretty shocked. Anyways a suggested destination.…

Our Swedish friend took us to Marstrand and we were so delighted with the experience. The small quaint streets, the charming restaurants and the coastal vistas. A wonderful way to spend time in the Gothenborg area and see something special.

Which will be also great thing to enjoy. Try to go there on a sunny day, then you will have the most beautiful and enjoyeble time.…

Beautiful. Idyllic island life. Home of homes for the rich and famous right along side homes belonging to families for generations. Views are spectacular especially from the fortress. Must visit Berg's bakery.
