A JOURNEY THROUGH VOLVO'S HISTORY Welcome to a world of iconic car models, groundbreaking innovations and imaginative prototypes. At Volvo Museum you can take a trip through Volvo's history and heritage, all the way from the start in 1927. Our collection encompasses a wide range of passenger cars, buses and heavy trucks as well as marine engines and construction equipment. But you don't have to be a petrolhead (or a dieselhead for that matter) to appreciate Volvo Museum. There's lots for everybody to experience - whether you want to learn about a unique piece of Swedish 20th century history or just want to be nostalgic about the good old times. And the youngest ones will enjoy the childrens' car -- a classic Volvo to play around in.

Museum covers Volvo history, Volvo Ocean race, Volvo trucks and finally Volvo cars including small section on sport cars. Overall a bit dissapointing on the amount of Volvo cars. Still recommended to visit. Warning: hard to get there with public transport on weekends - you need to call for the buss to pick you up.

TOP TIP Free entry with Gothenburg City Card Excellent range of past, present and future Volvo cars, buses and trucks. It starts off with a walk through of how Volvo started. On this floor there is also a superb section detailing Volvo's sponsorship and contribution with yacht racing. Upstairs the cars are organised chronologically. There are some truly beautiful examples... More

Enjoyed this even though I don't love Volvo cars, but my husbands is car mae. To get here you need to get the 5 or 6 tram to Eketragatan, disembark and cross the track, go through the underpass up to the bus depot and get the number 32 to Arendal. When you get off the bus, walk a little back... More

The Volvo brand has been around for about 100 years and is best known for it's cars. However this museum explores and informs about the other areas in which it is involved, including trucks, golf and the TransAtlantic yacht racing. A really informative museum with lots to see and some interactive areas, with excellent information on the safety developments that... More

After touring the city centre using the cruise ship free bus shuttle we went directly to the museum adjacent to the ship terminal. Price is $100k or $80k senior although no one checks if you paid or not. Free Wi-Fi with a passcode obtained from the ticket desk. The main floor of the museum near the entrance is devoted to... Excellent museum but a bit of a Trek to get there and you need to call ahead to make sure there is a public transport bus to take you and get you back, as it only runs if you request it. It sounds a lot, but if your organised it is ok. Worth a visit though and the ocean race... More

I have fond childhood memories of our old family Volvo so was always keen to visit this museum. We travelled by public transport from Gothenburg which was easy but took just under an hour. Well worth the visit but I left feeling it could offer a little more. It would be nice to see a few more human interest stories... More
