This striking building is an indoor fish market, which got its name from the building's resemblance to a Neo-gothic church. It opened already in 1874.

Feskekörka is an institution in Gothenburg, housing one of the city's oldest trades, fishing. There is also a seafood restaurant in the building.

At the moment, the building is under construction.

We visited after walking through Haga, which you can see across the river from outside Feskekôrka. However there wasn’t much to see here, aside from the fish, though the building is nice enough.
It is probably worth eating at the restaurant here to fully enjoy the experience.

Beautiful looking church like building, I don't eat seafood or fish but had to come and take a look. very busy and people seemed to enjoy the food and all the store workers are great and happy to chat. Saw it as I was on a boat tour along the canal and decided to take the electric Lime scooter back to take a look. Glad I did it was an experience.

A fantastic fish market located inside an old, renovated church. The inside of it is outstanding.

We only popped in for a look at the market but it’s packed full of busy restaurants all kicking out amazing smells. Well worth a dinner trip if you want some seafood!

Walked through the rain on the basis of the hype around the fish market. One stall open with a few offerings, entire rest of building in darkness. Despite being winter, there were lots of people wanting to buy. Very disappointed don’t waste your time.

Don’t bother go here. Just a couple of places open, it’s half empty.
You can tell that something has happened when it comes to renting stalls.
To bad that the city doesn’t communicate that its not worth a visit.

The outside of the building was pleasant and a nice walk along the waterside. Sadly, the place was closed for refurbishment so we could not se the inside (hence the average score). If you go, have a look at the statues at one side of the building.

This old fish market is very unique and well worth a visit if you are into ses food.
Fresh fish of the boat and some good stories from the local fishermen.
There is also restaurants where you can get a tasty bite to eat.

Once upon a time this was a really nice and authentic fish market. Somewhat of a showcase for Gothenburg. But not anymore. Nowadays it's a Tourist trap, with only a few fish stands, not very fresh fish, shrimps, etc. and expensive. Living in Gothenburg, I am sad not being able to recommend the Fish Church.

There are just 3 fish sales counters remaining inside the rest being restaurants. The architecture of the building is interesting. To see a real fish market go to the indoor marketin the city centre.
