Nice monument near the town but not a lot of information about this person unless you have a guide or Google him.

Nice and historic place in the middle of city of Gothenburg. You can walk or cycle here, but streets are made of stones so watch your steps

A staty of Gothenburg's founder. Around the square you can see Gothenburg's history presented on a timeline with most important events in the history described.

This is a nice place in town to meet, or just wander through. The statue of the king is pointing at the ground as if to say “build Göteborg here”.

On a sunny day the square can turn into the heart of cities activities . When I visited there were kids games all around and lot of kiosks for food ,, next to the river. Good to spend a sunny afternoon roaming around

This lovely town square has an impressive statue, is where city hall is found and acts as a great meeting place. Once of Göteborg’s centrepieces, the statue of Gustav II Adolf properly reflects his importance in establishing Sweden as a proper military influence.

A must see when in Goteborg, especially to get A sense of the city and if you are interested in watching the tourists and locals hanging around deciding what to do next.

I love this Square because of its few hidden gems, mostly the map of the old city of Gothenburg right beneath our feet.
Near to the statue, if you look at the ground, you can see that in a large spot, different tiles were used. They represent the street, the buildings, the walls and even the water of the old Gothenburg. Perhaps a good way to spot it is to look for the star-shaped (pointy) tiles which represent the old walls.

I am glad we saw the square and the statue with his finger pointing purposefully. Not that either is particularly visually astounding, but the interesting history and story behind the attraction make it worth seeing and relevant to a visit to Gothenburg. Gustav Adolfs must have been a remarkable person.

We had arrived at Gothenburg in a cruise liner which had to moor some miles from the centre of town. Shuttle buses were however provided, at a charge, to convey us into central Gothenburg. This was also the collection point later in the day.
This large open square was just right for the purpose and the statue in the centre served as visible confirmation that we were at the right place when we eventually returned.
