This is a pleasant church that is situated on a hill top. The exterior is interesting but the interiors is nice but not outstanding. There are great views of the city from around the church. Be prepared for the climb up and I would recommend Google Maps (or equivalent) for the route.

Not very easy to get there, on top of the hill, it will take you a while to walk up to it. Ill give you a hint. From the centre go see Oscar Fredriks Church first, then cut across through the back yard to Fjalgatan and follow the road to this church.
The church doesnt offer much other than a picturesque view of Western part of Gothenburg. Yes, it is worth going up there. Many locals go up there for the view and the sunset, a lot of couples too.
You can go down the hill on the other side, faster and you will be in the Sjofartsmuseet area, also worth having a look at.

This is without doubt my favorite church in Gothenburg. There is definitely something special about its location, architecture and atmosphere. I recommend this as the first stop for first-time visitors to the city. Built at the top of a hill, you have a great view to the West with Älvsborgs bridge and the ocean at a distance, and 50 meters away, on the other side of the church, you have a perfect view of city centre looking East. The church itself is beautiful and austere. The woodwork of the ceiling, the pillars and the choir are sublime yet unpretentious. Their is a certain mysticism about the place. It is usually not crowded so take a while to wander around and reflect and meditate. You will feel inspired. Look for the beautiful stone reliefs inside and outside which include classic biblical themes but also some more surprising elements! And don't miss the small round valve close to the entrance, it has wonderful acoustics.

We walked from town to this church, many do bus tours. It is a 40 minute walk and worth a visit. This church was built in 1914, it was designed to resemble what a Viking age church would have looked like. So many beautiful things to see inside, especially touching the tree of life.

Outside the church you will get a fantastic view of Gothenburg.

The church itself is architecturally very interesting and was designed by Sigfrid Ericson in the National Romantic style, and the builder was Ivar Burman. Kyran was built in 1911 and was inaugurated in 1914. Masthuggskyrkan is one of the most important landmarks in Gothenburg. You just need to visit the church on the mountain.
The church tower is 60 meters high by 11 meters sides. At the top sits a rooster, 127 meters above sea level.

This is a church that is about 100 years old, located on the top of a hill. Several of the city trams have sops near the church, but there's a significant walk up the hill from any of the stops.
Inside of the church, there's a self-guided tour - for a small fee, you can get a printed guide, available in many languages. The entire main level of the church is open along with limited access to other areas. There are a few historical items on display as well.
The grounds outside of the church offer some excellent views of the city and surrounding area. If you don't mind walking over some rough ground, you can get some excellent photos from the area.
If you do visit, definitely plan to get the printed guide - it is well organized and explains details that would easily be missed.
When planning your visit, be sure to allow about an hour for the church itself plus walking time to/from the tram stop and any extra time you might want to walk the grounds. Recommend that you wear good walking shoes.

A very old church with fascinating architecture (if you cannot see it - look harder) and the great smell of wood. Interesting carvings a lovely idea of hanging little figurines in an alcove for each child christened at the church. There is parking available around the building and if they ever get clear days, there is probably a cracking view of the town below you. Drive up.

We visited this church as part of a cruise ship excursion and were treated to some time inside to have a look around and a short photo stop outside the church as the viewing area offers some nice panoramic views over the river and the city.

Inside the church there is a beautiful wooden roof and décor that pays tribute to the maritime history of the city and apparently you can climb the tower (which is one of the most iconic features of the city skyline) however we didn't have time to do that.

Well worth a visit if old churches and elevated views are your thing.

The view is amazing!

Purchase your ice cream at Triumf at Allmänna vägen and walk up the stairs to the right of Hemköp at Stigbergstorget, up to the church. Pick a place on the rocks, sit down, eat your ice cream and enjoy the wonderful view!!

Worth staying until the sun sets!!

We visited this church while on a Coach Tour. Situated atop a hill there are great views of the city and the harbour, especially on a clear day. The Church is lovely inside with a decorative altar and a beautiful tapestry on the wall. Also seen from the church surrounds is the very moving statue of the Sailor's wife saving goodbye above the harbour.
