Staty över en älskad författare och diktare

Det här är verkligen en passande plats för en bronsstaty över Karin Boye, precis utanför Göteborgs stadsbibliotek och bara 10 minuters promenad från Vasaplatsen där hon föddes år 1900. Skulpturen, som invigdes i oktober 1987, skapades av Peter Linde och är älskad av många göteborgare och turister som passerar förbi. Bli inte förvånad om hon fått en blomma i handen, en hatt, en tröja eller kanske en sjal. Karin Boye, som är en av våra mest lästa författare och dikter, fick ett alldeles för kort liv, hon begick självmord redan 1941. Stanna till och ta en titt, den här späda kvinnan lämnade efter sig böcker som dystopin ”Kallocain” och dikter som den här, en av mina egna favoriter:
Ja visst gör det ont när knoppar brister.
Varför skulle annars våren tveka?
Varför skulle all vår heta längtan
bindas i det frusna bitterbleka?

Hedersam plats för en staty

Strax bredvid Stadsbiblioteket står statyn som får en att undra vem personen var. Platsen är en fin minnesplats för Karin Boyes verk och liv, på hedersplats. Fint gjord och i mänsklig storlek.
