About
The Linnaeus Garden was the first botanical garden in Sweden founded in 1655 by Olof Rudbeck the elder. It is laid out in the French Style and restored following Linnaeus' and Carl Harleman's design from 1745. Today approximately 1300 species are grown here. All known to have been cultivated by Linnaeus and arranged according to his own system. The garden is open to public June–September.

The house we visited was a painter's house, not only him but his wife as well. The steps are a little awkward going up and down. The upstairs is not even, so watch your step, other than that it was a amazing house. My Uncle who lives there told us about the famous painter of Sweden. The wedding of my cousin was the biggest surprise that got me over there, this was a close second.

A fascinating garden: clear information in English, quiet and uncrowdedy, good shop with friendly staff. Linnæus’s house (included in the entry price) is very interesting and the audio guide is excellent. No cafe but lots nearby - highly recommend those on the riverbank.

So many interesting flowers and fruits! Some are pretty, some are weird looking, but all fascinating. Lots of different species and varieties of plants packed in a small garden. When we first arrived, I thought the garden was so small that we could see it all in 20 minutes. By the time we left two hours later, we had taken about 100 photos without realizing it. Really interesting garden!

An easy walk from the Uppsala train station. Not a lot of visitors when we were there. Many restaurants and shops on the street in front of the garden.

Garden, especially, with its museum and orangerie in central Uppsala is a favourite to me when friends from abraod or other parts of Sweden come visiting. We have lunch in the garden restaurant, we do the guided tour with very scilled botanists as guides and enjoy various events and exhibitions in the Orangerie. Also, there is a good museum shop for special souvenirs from Linneaus' hometown.

This is a must place to visit for all botany and natural history enthusiasts - but not in mid-winter! Also heaven and inspiration for gardenistas of all kinds. Flowerbeds planted in the systematic Linnaeus order; annuals, and perennials separately. The Linnaeus home museum is also highly interesting and charming.

Lovely peaceful spot. Great shop, lovely garden, free tours (2 per day I think). The museum has an English audio guide that even kept my 5 year old interested.

For those who love plants, flowers and history, this is the place. We loved it! The garden is not huge, but it is lovely indeed. And the exhibition in the old house of Linnaeus is great as well.

We only had time for a quick visit but managed to see the house and gardens and spend a few minutes in the excellent shop. There were several unusual flowers blooming and it was great to have easy access to their names. One of my ancestors studied with Linnaeus so I was especially interested to see the lecture room where he taught students and to see artifacts from his life. The gardens would more interesting a little later in the spring or summer when more flowers were blooming.

When most everything was closed for Midsummer weekend, this garden and house was open and offered a lovely meander while learning about the Linneaeus classification system. The house gave comprehensive information about the man and his family with the aid of a wearable audio system. The gift store was also a delight.
