nice concerts, music acoustics and an eccellent restaurant. Just walk in to see the perspective and the stunning view over the city or buy a ticket to listen to a nice concert.

The reason I went to this otherwise not overly interesting part of Uppsala behind the railways station, was to catch the green bus No 2 to Gamla Uppsala. The bus stop is at the Vaksala square and there a building struck my eye, of which it said above the entrance: Uppsala Konsert & Kongress. The whole construction is covered with metal sheets at varying angles, so the effect in the sunlight are special shadows and crystalline reflections. I was quite impressed and would have loved to go inside, but with other plans in my mind, I had to content myself with the exterior - already the second striking example of modern architecture I had encountered in Uppsala after the Ahlens Department Store by the Stora Torget with its sparkling stainless steel shell and all round angles. While the Ahlens department store is the work of a Stockholm based architectural office, the Uppsala Konsert&Kongress Building from 2007 - as I found out later - is a creation by Henning Larsen from Copenhagen, who is also behind the much more famous neo-futuristic Copenhagen Opera House (Sydney Opera House again is the work of another Danish architect: Jörn Utzon). So my waiting for the bus to Gamla Uppsala turned out to be quite interesting.

I went to Uppsala Konsert & Kongress UKK, to see Swan Lake with the Russian National Ballet which was wonderful. Before the show we had the Konsertbuffet in the Sky Bar. It was perfect! A good selection of hot and cold food, with wine and also cheese, coffe and dessert, for an affordable amount. Very nice! Also, all of the staff we came across, was very accomodating and pleasant.
