I have known Foz d'Arelho beach since 1993. Of course it has changed alot since then with its promenade, beach bars and restaurants, but is still has a very special atmosphere whether watching the breakers come in at sunset, walking along the beach passing the fishermen, or being fascinated by the rushing water entering and leaving the lagoon as the tides change. Unique as well are the protected beaches on the lagoon side, ideal for families with children and out of the wind as well. The beach bars are great especially the one at the front where one could believe one is in the Caribic sipping a bier or cocktail, chilling out and listening to Café del Mar!
I can thoroughly recommend this venue. It was always my favourite and still is.

The safe, warm lagoon on one side and the Atlantic surf on the other. Free parking and nice eateries on the beach with lagoon views. Not very developed or touristy. Minor litter on less used parts of the beach the only negative, as with most beaches these days. The Atlantic side is not always suitable for swimming if the sea is rough, but the lagoon is idyllic anyway.

I have travelled the world, 46 countries, and l can honestly confirm that Foz do Arelho beach is a wonder of the world.
The lagoon meets the Atlantic, sun rise and sunset of the best in the world, perfect for water sport activities, sun bathing or fishing, several wonderful beach bars and restaurants, nature preserved throughout, love this place😍

This beach is fantastic! Miles of clean sand so it never feels crowded. There is free parking and good toilet facilities. Would advise children and weak swimmers to use the lagoon side as the Atlantic side has very strong surf and tides. There are plenty of life guards on duty. Restaurants and snack huts are available for food and drinks.

We have been going to the Beach at Foz for over 12 years now, it's such a lovely place.
Restaurants, Cafes and a good place to walk.
The changing nature of the sand and the Oceans entry to the Lagoon is spectacular at times.
After storms it can change the landscape dramatically and the surf can be awesome at times in the Winter.
Well with a visit at any time.

Expansive beach with small shops and a flea market on some days. Parking can sometimes be hard along the beach, but be patient and a space will come up! Lots of cafés to eat at. Can get busy in places, but plenty of space if you look.

This beach has everything: shallow water in big lagoon for small children, sun umbrellas for older, bars and shops, parking places, wind and open ocean and beautiful sunsets. What else do you need for nice summer afternoon? Enjoy!

In terms of pure beauty and majesty it's a wonderful beach...soft white sand, crystal blue water, fantastic surf crashing in. We had a wonderful time just lying out in the sun, catching some rays and enjoying the natural beauty. But on the downside it is quite windy and the water is ice cold with huge waves and a dangerous undertow. There is a shallow natural lagoon that forms slightly over the main dunes that is slightly warmer and suitable for young children but be aware that the main ocean current is quite strong and best treated with caution even for experienced swimmers. We were surprised that nothing was posted to this effect so just be careful, especially with little ones! Other than that it is a lovely beach though.

There are bathroom facilities on site and several small beach cafes and bars along the strip as well as ample parking

Very nice beach with amazing views over the ocean and the bay/lagoon. In the lagoon the water is calm and 'safer' except with tide when the current is quite heavy. The oceanside has the usual heavy current and waves which are not for kids or the average swimmer. Some nice small taverns and restaurants and not too crowded beaches. Amazing startingpoint as well for some long trail-running adventures. Nice spot for an easy and chill day out at the beach.
