On the way to Gardos you find this extremely well preserved church with a nice garden. Perfect to sit inside or outside for reflection and mind rest.

Church of the Virgin (Iglesia de la Virgen) (Рођење Пресвете Богородице) in Rajačićeva street, Zemun. It is across and behind the main opera square, but it will catch your eye to see the building. It is also surrounded by lovely pebblestone streets, with a lovely medieval allure and far from the tourist rush. Free to visit. Also do not miss a lovely little local bar, just outside the church, which will also catch your eye, as it looks really rustic as if it was in the middle of the serbian forest. Perfect for a Serbian coffee, a cold beer or some rakija. The name of the bar is Rustic (written with cyrillic alphabet). The owner is a lovely Serbian man in his late 60´s-70´s who although does not speak english, can understand the basic words. My husband and I were one of the veeeery few tourists that visits the bar, and we were treated really nice and even had our drinks as a complimentary courtesy, the man just telling us that we would pay tomorrow, for the day it was his treat¡¡¡ Great experience and a true taste of Serbian hospitality.

Today, the Church building is undergoing restoration work, which does not allow to fully appreciate its beauty. However, it is necessary to go into the courtyard, walk around the building and still look inside. The impression is very good and memorable
