The building known as the tavern "Beli Medved", is the oldest house in Zemun and the only surviving copy of Balkan architecture in this part of town. This house is built of wood and brick and is considered to originate from the 17th century, and the years of construction remains unknown.

This is one of the most significant houses, and the oldest one in Zemun. Unfortunately, no one takes care of it. In 1717. after he conquered Zemun, Prince Eugene Of Savoy, stayed at this place. Under the house is underground passage. There is belief that during the winter when people did not have fridges, that place was storage for the ice which was cut with saws from Danube. To preserve ice, people were putting the straw on it.
This place, full of history and interesting stories deserves some renovation.

This is the oldest house in Zemun, but it is in terrible condition. Nobody maintain it, walls are mottled with graffiti, and there could be found very strange people during night. Safety is bad, there is NOTHING to see, so just move along, in Belgrade and in Zemun there is really nice things to see.
