With its high-end shopping facilities and Michelin-starred restaurants, Östermalm is definitely the poshest part of central Stockholm. Here you will find Stockholm’s most majestic residential buildings, a beautiful market hall from 1888 displaying gourmet foods from around the world and the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre with its awe-inspiring architecture. At night, legendary nightclubs make the perfect location to observe the natives (and those aspiring to become natives of this exclusive neighborhood) in their natural habitat and to enjoy the latest produce of the Swedish house music scene.

This church is a baroque church, but it is nothing baroque in the meaning grotesque in its design. It is in my view an extremely beautiful church. They started to build it 350 year ago for the people in the navy. It has never been rebuilt, even if the dome is finished much later. And the original design has been brought back by the last restauration around ten years ago. Its exterior is very fetching with the traditional colour of old Stockholm buildings, a warm yellow. In the warm part of the year it is surrounded with a lot of green in form of the large trees that surround it, a perfect colour combination. However, it also nice with some snow on the black roof.
Inside, beside the harmony of the whole room, I want to draw your attention to the pulpit and the altar. The pulpit is baroque at its best, it is extremally nice. The altar is a perfect combination with a large painting of the crucifixion and a small glass window with the Ascension of Christ over it. The glasswork in the chapel of Andreas is also very nice.

This was just near our hotel and looked nice from the outside so we went in. It has a quiet, peaceful atmosphere inside and is worth a visit.

This 1737-built church with a distinct dome is located at Östermalmstorg.

It is named after the Swedish Queen Hedvig Eleonora, wife of King Charles X of Sweden.

This protestant church is one of Stockholm's most popular churches for weddings, christenings, and funerals.

The church is open every day between 11:00 and 18:00.

Hedvig Eleonora Kyrka is a rounded church located in a park, in Stockholm. It is a church with a beautiful facade and it is possible to visit the inner zone. Interesting. In the average.

This church lies in the posh part of inner city of Stockholm, Östermalm. Situated at its central square Östermalms torg. It was design at a quite different time, when Sweden was a great power in the second part of the seventeenth century. In these times this part lied outside the city and was called quite rightly called the Barnyard land.
The church was aimed to be the church of the navy people. It was not finished until much later for the same reason as many other churches, the lack of money. The imposing cupola did not got today appearance until the nineteenth century. It is situated in a nice church yard with a lot of nice big trees. It is very nice to rest on one of the benches in the warmer parts of the year. The very nice Food Hall, that is well over one hundred years old, is located on the other side of the square. It extensive renovation will be finished in the spring 2019, but you can shop in the temporary food hall in the middle of the square. I can recommend a visit and especially 2019 than the renovation is finished.
Back to the church. It is called after a queen, who was regent first for her son and later for his grandson, from its day of construction. However, she did not see its completion. The interior is even more impressing than the exterior. The height and the space and the beautiful collars and decorations is so impressive. Its general layout is called a central church in contrast to the basilica type. The interior highlights are the baroque choir and the church pulpit in classic stile. Neither are too much for my taste even if they are both very much, since it was no holding back in their design.
One odd thing is that the father of the world-famous movie director Ingemar Bergman was vicar of this church during part of his youth.

I stopped by and took in the calm of the place whilst en route elsewhere.
The church is resplendent in light blue/ aqua coloured wood, and you have a great sense of light when you walk in. The altarpiece "Jesus on the cross" is quite stunning (1730s).
