My husband and I had only a weekend to spend in the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden. In addition, it was December, close to the shortest day of the year. To maximize our efficiency and fun, we decided to book a private tour. It was a great decision! Thomas Andersson, our guide knows the city like the back of his hand. He asked us what we were interested in and made suggestions, all of which were wonderful! He is full of fascinating details about the history of this multi-island metropolis. In the space of this review, I cannot describe everything we did within 8 hours. Even though the weather was rainy and cold, we had a blast! Wow, was it ever a good idea to travel in a comfortable limo! Since we were on our own private tour, we could pick what we were most interested in. For example, in order to save more time for other sights and a more leisurely lunch, we chose to see only the outside of the lovely royal palace. We spent more time at the incredible Vasa Museum, home of the Vasa warship that was launched in 1628, only to sink almost immediately in Stockholm harbor. We were in awe to see this huge wooden sailing vessel, salvaged from the depths in the late 1950's and early 60's. It is remarkable that most of it survived centuries of immersion in water and mud. The museum has a not-to-be-missed video about the Vasa. We greatly enjoyed our visit to the Stockholm City Hall, the site of the Nobel Prize laureates' banquet, and also of the most beautiful golden mosaic hall we have seen outside of Italy. We toured the old town and visited the Christmas market after dark. As we wanted to buy presents, Thomas took us to several wonderful shopping streets in the old town. The next day, we went back and bought lovely Swedish woolens and handmade earrings and pendants. I also must mention the terrific lunch we had at Tradition Oster, a wonderful small restaurant on Österlånggatan in the old town. This outstanding personalized guided excursion absolutely made our short visit to Stockholm a success! We give it our highest recommendation!

We had Thomas for a full day plus airport transfers. Great service. You can tell he has been doing this for a long time. Information overload about Stockholm but in a very good way. Only a seasoned guide can do that. Great job.

We’re fortunate that Thomas was our guide in Stockholm. We had been planning this trip for a while and we finally made it. During the planning process, which was a long time in the making, Thomas was helpful and patient all along the way and always prompt in his response to my email. He provided us with an airport pick up and a private city tour on a subsequent day. We wanted an enjoyable and relaxing day of sightseeing around Stockholm and that’s what Thomas delivered! Thomas was so knowledgeable and all together great company. We enjoyed the information, stories, points of interests visited and his humor. His casual and informative style was just perfect, with history made interesting. He pointed out iconic homes, defined historic buildings, provided anecdotes throughout and gave us good insight into Swedish culture. We hit the city highlights, drove through many of the neighborhoods, visited various islands and as a private tour, he offered flexibility regarding the overall itinerary, timing and drop off point. We visited the Vasa Museum and Thomas guided us inside. The museum is already special, but with his guidance, he made the history of Vasa come alive. The museum is not to be missed and was made better with Thomas’ knowledge and commentary to enhance the experience. Thank you, Thomas, for your gracious and wonderful service. You also captured our perfect family photo from a scenic vantage point (although the weather wasn’t cooperating much). You made our short stay in Stockholm a true delight!

Thomas was very punctual and picked us up promptly as communicated. His Mercedes van was clean and comfortable. The pluses for Thomas -- very personable and knowledgeable about his city. Excellent information and tour in the Vasa Museum. The disappointment was in his time management. We asked about visiting City Hall as it is the venue for the Nobel Peace prize. He suggested we try for a little later in the day. Also asked to spend some time in Old Town. We never made it to City Hall and spent only about 20 minutes in Old Town. Too much time driving around -- recommend you have very clear itinerary before starting out. No doubt Thomas knows his city, but we were disappointed in how much we saw during our time with him.
