About
Welcome to the Bergius Botanic Garden. Ideally situated at Brunnsviken, an inlet of the Baltic Sea, the garden is part of the city’s national park, protected by law to preserve natural and cultural values for the future. The primary objective of the Bergius Botanic Garden is to support teaching and research about plant diversity, but the garden is also a recreational spot and a source of botanical knowledge for all its visitors. With a history stretching back to the 18th century, the garden is today owned and managed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Stockholm University.

Address
Neighborhood: Östermalm
With its high-end shopping facilities and Michelin-starred restaurants, Östermalm is definitely the poshest part of central Stockholm. Here you will find Stockholm’s most majestic residential buildings, a beautiful market hall from 1888 displaying gourmet foods from around the world and the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre with its awe-inspiring architecture. At night, legendary nightclubs make the perfect location to observe the natives (and those aspiring to become natives of this exclusive neighborhood) in their natural habitat and to enjoy the latest produce of the Swedish house music scene.

A botanical garden with plants from all over the world
May 2021 • Solo
If the weather is inhospitable, there are two greenhouses in the area. A place
for inspiration and walks. Do not miss the cafe and restaurant Gamla Orangeriet, menu and selection towards vegetarian and what, s in season. Otherwise there is..good coffee and delicious pastries

Every visit is a Discovery

Have you seen pomegranate in blossom? Or tobacco flowers? Me neither - before the visit to Bergianska trädgården. Lots of flowers and trees and berries, but you are not allowed to pick them. With a very nice exception - you still can pick an apple or two, if it has fallen down to the grass. This is what my 4yo loves most of all:)
There is also a nice cafe (closes at 5, I guess) with a good atmosphere and a very good ”rabarber paj”.

A very beautiful place. Recommend to visit before noon so there's not so many people. So much to see! 😍

A bit to early perhaps
May 2019
In early May the flowers haven’t really arrived yet, but a walk around the park is nice. There are so many wonderful views all over the place – no matter what time of the year. And it’s free

With a lake adjacent to it, walking through the garden is more than educational. The garden has coffee shop.

Best place to be if you need to escape the crowded city but yet still close to city central. It's beautiful at all seasons.
