The area
Address
Neighborhood: Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.

Stockholm City Library was created by world-famous architect Gunnar Asplund. The library has been listed as one of the world's most beautiful libraries.

The facade is beautiful. The rotunda with a tall cylinder gives the exterior monumentality. The rotunda is also the most striking part of the interior.

The library was officially opened in 1928 by Prince Eugen.

The Public Library is also worth a peak. Designed as a rotunda it was built so that every book is accessible without a ladder, a metaphor that knowledge should be reachable for anyone.

Visiting a bibliotek was something unique and i was really impressed by the interior design. Without doubts, you should visit it as quiet as possible but you should check before the opening hours and days

We walked here, about 10/15 min from the city center. It was a bit smaller than I had expected and very hot. We stayed 1 minute and that was pretty much enough.

Not worth seeing as a tourist attraction. It is a small library and the architecture is nothing special. Seems like a nice library for the locals.

Stockholm Public Library is an architectural gem. Difficult to find parking nearby. It is a short visit but rewarding
. Lots of people looking for books and lots of people looking on a June midweek day.

I love libraries and I am lucky to live close to the New York Public Library. my son picked this place to visit because we love libraries and off the beat local destinations. It is a beautiful building and has so much character. It is also surrounded by a beautiful work that you can walk up and see the city.

This place shows up on TripAdvisor as a great place to visit as a tourist. My expectations were however not met. I'd recommend skipping this place for sure if you're just an out-of-town visitor.

PS. I don't doubt (and cannot judge) its worth as a library, which of course _is_ it's main function, but again, as a tourist attraction this is not worth it.

Well worth a visit! Impressive way to store books - round library with three floors of bookshelfs. Stunning architecture, amazing temple that makes Stockholm great. Go there, sit and have a cup of silence and peace.
