This is a great place to have a panoramic view (or to see the fireworks) over the last bit of Lake Mälaren, the islands of Kungsholmen (on the right), Södermalm-Långholmen (on the left) and Riddarholmen (front). Best light: afternoon and sunset.
The bridge itself is an interesting engineering structure from 1936 with a double arch, an alternative connection north-south.
On the west side is an exit to the park-island Långholmen.

Beautiful. Its a lovely walk around the water and across the bridge to walk back into the city. Great views too. Lots of trains to get there also.

One of the most beautiful bridges in Stockholm. We had a long walk by the water on both of sides of the lake. You have to use this bridge to connect to the other side. Beautiful view from there!

Very attractive bridge under which our boat traveled while returning from the Drottningholm Palace and Theater. Did not have occasion to transverse this bridge but did admire it from the boat.

Västerbron ("The Western Bridge") is one of the major bridges in Stockholm, offering one of the most panoramic views of the central part of the city, especially on Gamla stan, the old town. We have passed under this bridge while cruising from the City Hall towards Drottningholm Palace and back, but we have found nothing impressive about it, except maybe its size (its length exceeds 600 m)

We went over this bridge on a couple of occasions as part of organised tours whilst in Stockholm. It is higher than other bridges between the islands making up the city. The elevation provides good view of parts of the city on either side and also of the areas below on each side of the water. The bridge benefits from the overall attractive area, but is otherwise unremarkable

We arrived in Stockholm on June 6th (National Day in Sweden) aboard the Queen Elizabeth. The shuttle bus from the ship dropped us off right next to this bridge. It was such a glorious day - weather just perfect. This bridge is over Västerbron (The Western Bridge). Built in 1935, this 1900+ foot long bridge connects the islands of Södermalm and Långholmen with the island of Kungsholmen. It provides great views of Gamla Stan and downtown Stockholm to the east and the Essinge islands in Lake Mälaren to the west. Free

As you walk up this bridge struck quickly by the incredibly beautiful view of almost the entire Stockholm ... here you can see how vast this city yet and that it is also a distinct archipelago town! The bridge is a steel arch construction and built during the 30th century. There are, as with so many changes the famous Buildings and sites in big cities, and even songs written about the bridge. Here you running also as runners over twice during the Stockholm Marathon and the bridge is considered the hardest part of the race ... In various air shows have airplanes passed under one of the bridge arches and at one point crashed a military aircraft directly adjacent island of Långholmen. I often take walks across the bridge to enjoy the world's most beautiful city!

The brigde is situated between the Södermalm and Kungsholmen islands and you can easy access to take the bus 4 that go over the bridge and stop at both ends also subway to Hornstull (red line). The view is fantastic on both sides and you will not be disappointed.
Remember to bring your own padlock to hang on the middle of the bridge!
