Nice market for about 10 minutes, then you realise it’s the same 4 stalls repeated lots of times.

Was much better on a Sunday with lots of second hand unique treasures to search through! More like a car boot vibe 😋

We stopped in here to explore the market and have lunch. The market is small and is mostly restaurants and occupies two floors. Many of the restaurants specialize in fish and we did try a fish chowder at one of them that was quite good. Other cuisines are also represented, including several Asian restaurants. There is also a very interesting licorice shop here. Licorice is extremely popular here and it was fun to see all the different kinds and sample a few. It is worth stopping in if you are in the area, but I might not travel a long way to get here.

This is a must when you're in Stockholm! And the terrible weather doesn't matter in here. You're in food paradise. Everything your heart desires is here, and it's colourful and pretty, and those smells - coffee, spices, fresh roasted meat, exotic sausages, beautiful fruit and veg, chocolate, tea, you name it. Sit down, have glass of lovely wine on a Friday afternoon and just enjoy the world.

Many travelers consider seafood in Asia or in certain parts of the US to be the best in the world but if they have not tried seafood from Fiskeläget at Hötorgshallen in Stockholm have no competition anywhere.
You can enjoy wonderful homemade small dishes with a glass of wine at the counter at their newly renovated location but if you have possibilities to access a kitchen buy the seafood and prepare Seafood at home in according to some of the traditional Swedish recipes.
You can always ask the fantastic staff to recommend a good recipe.

Examples of cold dishes of wonder:
These days it is asparagus season and try the cooked asparagus with a truffle hollandaise sauce. Heaven.

Try the Västerbotten cheese pie to go along with any of the cold seafood dishes bought at Fiskeläget.

Shrimps - both cooked in salted water and the smoked version - really the best in the world. Nowhere else so tasty. Living in Asia, the way to cook shrimps or smoke shrimps should be taught to Asian chefs.

Marinated, light salted, gravlax variations fantastic almost as good as the ones we do ourselves. Buy some homemade gravlax sauce or other sauces to go along with the salmon.

Langoustine - heavenly good -

Crayfish at season - a wonder
All the fantastic starters - so fantastical delicious.

Buy Cod, sea bass (ask them to fillet it for you) and all other non cooked fish so fresh and so good for a home made Swedish seafood dinner.

Fiskeläget have their own kitchen close buy where they prepare all their home made dishes - so good so fresh.

I am not a owner of this fantastic place but an admirer of the shop, Swedish seafood lover, epicurist, gourmet and in the case of Swedish seafood a gourmand.

There are a lot of other dishes not mentioned above in detail but go and explore yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Fiskeläget gets the highest ranking in my book with all the traveling and restaurant visits we have made the last 50 years.

Do not trust the salespeople at the vegetable and fruit stalls outside on Hötorget. They act very friendly and generous, however be very wary of this as they overcharge heavily and not weigh the vegetables correctly. I did not notice that the salesman put in 600 SEK into the card machine which is obviously way to much for few hundred grams of Asperges and tomatoes. No receipt was provided, my mistake to not pay too much attention as I noticed this only until I got home.

For good vegetables go inside the Hotorget, do not buy on the market outside! Inside the market is a very good vegetable shop too.

The open air market has beautiful fruit, vegetables and flowers. It looks like a favorite place for office workers to eat their take-out lunches on the steps of the concert hall which forms one side of the square. Off this square is the 2-story food hall. Go down to the basement where you will find high quality meat, Swedish game, and several stalls that serve a variety of prepared food. Based on the enthusiastic reviews we chose Kajsas Fisk which specializes in fish, of course. My husband enjoyed the much praised fish soup which at 95 Swedish kronor (about $11) was a good value for its delicious flavor and generous helping, served with bread and salad. Wine and beer also available. I chose the fish and chips at 105 kronor. We arrived at noon when it was very crowded with people from nearby offices and also tourists. One of the cooks said that the crowd thinned between 2 and 4 p.m. It was interesting for us to have a good quality lunch at not more than it would cost in Los Angeles for the same meal. I would go back and try other things.

I didn't buy anything from the Old Haymarket (open market in front of the Stockholm Concert Hall) because I already know they over-price everything to oblivion. Our hotel is just a turns away from Old Haymarket, so it was unavoidable to walk through it. The vendors sell everything from souvenirs to luggage, flowers to handbags. I was there in August, so the fruit stands sold strawberries, grapes, cherries, Chanterelle mushrooms, figs, etc. Alot of the fruit is held in containers ~ Buyer beware that the price they have on the sign is per weight - in hectograms (hg) not per container. Don't be fooled. 1 hg = .22 lbs. Or 1 lb = about 4.50 hg. The vendors are very chatty and smooth talkers. They will try to get your attention when you walk by and will try to give you a "discount" so you think you're getting a bargain. The vendors are connected with each other so, basically they set whatever price they feel like at the moment.

Advice - you can look, but don't buy. If it's fruit you want, go to the supermarket. Prices are more legit at the supermarket. There is a wonderful (and huge) supermarket called Hemkop in the basement level of the Ahlens City Department Store on Klarabergsgatan.

The place is nice to look at and if you want to take photos, or just passing by. But do not go out your way to come to this market. The indoor market adjacent to this one is far better.
We were charged 200SEK for a pallet of raspberries, which was 5 times what they were worth. The next day, the raspberries had already turned mouldy and had to be thrown away. The stalls are run by non-Swedish and are just conning all of the tourists.
Don't bother coming here.
