This place is always beautiful. I recall it in winter time with the snow, but it spectacular in spring when the cherry blossoms are blooming - usually around the end of April. It is famous even with Swedish people and it was one of the waitresses at a restaurant that recommended it to me now that's springtime.
It can get crowded though, so it's hard to take pics.

Such a pretty little park. Even at the back end of September on a dreary day the colourful blooms made it attractive. The beautiful St Jakob's church makes such a good back drop to the gardens. Such a pity we couldn't have enjoyed it on a sunny day.

There is an ice skating rink set up in the middle of the gardens which has skates hire or you can bring your own. Seems to be a favourite with the locals. There was also an iceskating display put on by many of the local skaters and their ice skating schools which was really fun to watch.

I walked from end to end, and even in Winter, I really enjoyed the space, that there were lots of places to sit and rest my painful knees. I stopped for a hot tea, and chokolad ball in one of the cafes, and it was nice to get out of the wind. All surrounded by beautiful buildings. I walked from the city end, down to the waterfront, with lovely views across to the Parliament buildings, and the Old Town.
It must be a beautiful place to sit during Spring and Summer.

This is a beautiful park filled with flowers, trees & people - with the equally beautiful St. Jakob's Church looming over it. Every day I was in Stockholm, I always would find myself here, walking around. It was almost like the streets were funneling me to it.

We went here quite often to watch the skaters. Family feel and and fun. Several restaurants a long one side and the food was great. It is also a great cut through from Kungtradgarden shopping area to the marina and ferries or tour boats.

A lovely place to visit at any time of year. Colourful and relaxing. A nice place to chill with plenty of cafes to pass the time that.

We just found this park by accident and there was a huge area with street food and a music show. It was great. When in Stockholm (in Summer) - go there!

Now if I was a striking blonde Swede in a white turtleneck, I'm sure I'd want to be seen here. It definitely felt like a congregation point for locals and tourists in the middle of the city. The NYC park that it reminds me the most of is neither Central Park nor Washington Square but Bryant Park because it felt very much like an urban space where you could have a meal at a higher-end eatery inside the park. In fact, it's so urban they decided to use artificial grass, something akin to Astroturf on a lot of the grounds to minimize maintenance. Those darn efficient Swedes, you betcha.

As you head east of Sergels torg where the big, elliptical plaza leads to a series of underground shopping centers, you come up and see (at least in spring), the arresting sight of cherry blossom trees surrounding a large rectangular pond that apparently doubles as a concert stage when it's emptied out. It was plenty crowded around the pool, so Jamie W. and I walked a bit further south near the statue of King Charles XIII where the Astroturf was wide open for any ignorant American tourist to sit a spell as they plot their next photo stop in Stockholm.

Staring at the soft serve cones passing by us as they were being licked to oblivion, we couldn't help ourselves and got a couple of the cones with chopped walnuts at a portable kiosk on the side of the park. The cones are called mjukglass in Swedish, and they were a treat despite the rare encounter with a homeless woman resulting in the only harassment we experienced on our trip. I have to admit the lack of racial diversity in Stockholm was glaringly evident to the point where the lone black man in the park was conspicuous by his presence. People watching was clearly the spectator sport of choice here.

Beautiful view during the autumn. Lots of leaves and beautiful trees even though the fountain was off and empty this time of the year. Still a nice place to seat during the afternoon weekend and have a cup of coffee
