I had one of my best meals in this area and you don't get many tourists which is why I went there but it's a grungy area, not down market but alternative

Very beautiful place to enjoy especially on a sunny day. You can see children going sledging. I was very impressed by the gill.

I came by after reading about the trendiness of this place. Perhaps I explored the wrong area? the place in the evening was rather dodgy. I could not find the "trendy " cafes as mentioned.

Enjoy the south part of Stockholm with a vivid night life (not all places are good though). Lot's of bars and casual hang out. Don't be shy and walk around in The smaller streets to find hidden gems!

Compared to the "bohemian/up and coming/counter culture" areas of Berlin and Madrid Sodermalm falls way short in terms of neighborhood feel, alternative shopping, food, etc.. Perhaps it's the relatively high standard of living in Stockholm, commitment to community, or some other reason, but Sodermalm comes across knly as a nice area to walk around. Just don't expect the graffiti, edgy... More

Just stroll around the streets and enjoy the atmosphere on Södermalm. There are lots of cute small cafés and bars and also designer shops. If you want the Stockholm night out - experience, go to Debaser Medis or Debaser Strand - two clubs where locals use to go.

Södermalm is historically the home to the workers of Stockholm. Not anymore, due mostly to the ever-appreciating property prices which has made Södermalm nearly as unaffordable as the rest of the city. Some small pockets are even among the most expensive in Stockholm. Who lives there? Overwhelmingly people from creative sectors, academics, and culture workers. A scary fact is that... More

Södermalm is made out to be the more Bohemian island; the place where the younger and cooler crowd live, work and love. And sure, Södermalm has many restaurants, shops, theatres, parks and other worthwhile attractions. But special? Not as much as it pretends to be.

This part of the city was in early days home to the poor citizens and working class. It has a lot of bars and restaurants and a good place to just take walk.

Staying in Slussen

Neighborhood Profile
Slussen
A unique mix of grotesque 1960s concrete urban vision and cosy historical Swedish brick houses, Slussen has become one of Stockholm’s most architecturally edgy and controversial neighborhoods. Plans to rebuild the area have been on the agenda for decades, however, so far no agreement could be reached, which is the reason for the continuing decay of its brutalist substance. Nevertheless, the museums and the main shopping street, Götgatan, attract both locals and tourists with Sweden’s most fashion-forward clothing retailers, hipster coffee shops and restaurants. Once the lights are out, the area turns into a bustling nightlife haven, catering to all preferences, from posh hotel bars to sweaty underground nightclubs. There is no better place to experience the clash between old and new Sweden.
