The visit is really quiet, the view is beautiful. You can enjoy the city without all the cars and the noise !

Walk over the walk way or take the Djurgarden ferry from Gamla Stam that goes every 15 min or so but be sure to tell the staff when you board the ferry that you are going to Skeppsholmen. Follow the maps posted on the walkways and check out the modern museum. It is free and quite nice. Have lunch there,... More

A nice island connected to normalm by the crown bridge, provides great views of gamla stan and ostermalm. It is also where the military salute station is located, happened to be in Stockholm when Prince Nicolas was born...they're very loud!

We visited this island by mistake when trying to find a ferry across to the Vasa Museum. It is a lovely stroll along a tree-lined path, and then you suddenly come upon these fantastic, monstrous, colorful sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle, and intricate metal constructions by her partner Tinguely. One word of caution: the machine for ferry tickets was... More

The main attraction on Skeppsholmen Island is the Modern Museum with the Architecture Museum attached to it. There is an early 18th Century army complex now housing homes and art space as well as Skeppsholmen Church (1824) and a series of fanciful modern sculptures called "Paradise". There is a small 19th Castle. The island also offers a scenic walk close... More

By walking around the island Skeppsholmen you first find the old ship Af Chapman, which ist now a restaurant and a hotel. From the ship and later, when you walk on you will get very good views from the old town as a whole. If you go further, you will find an old shipyard, where you can lern to build... More

There are three free museums on the island where Djurgarden boats make a stop for visitors. I have only visited the Modern Museum which has a small permanent collection. I would not recommend visitors with little time to spend in Stockholm to visit Skeppsholmen.

We spent the afternoon walking around Skeppslomen. On a fine day it was a relaxing way to spend time and very enjoyable. A break from all the other activities we'd done in Stockholm was very welcome so it suited us but don't go there expecting non-stop entertainment. We aren't really into modern art so didn't do the museum (apart from... More
