This is a small island - one of many in Stockholm harbour - and contains the modern art museum and a hotel, amongst other things. It's quiet and pleasant for strolling around. Tip: Try walking from the mainland over the bridge on to the island, spending a happy couple of hours there and then catching the ferry to Gamla Stan.

I walked around this island mid evening, there are plaques explaining the heritage of the boats, and it's a very pleasant stroll. I had hoped to find some restaurants but only came across two and a small hotel, neither of which had something vegetarian however they looked like nice places to eat. It takes about an hour to walk around... More

One of my favourite areas of Stockholm. It's green, lush and beatiful. This is where you can find the Modern museum. It's worth walking over the main bridge as it offers great views of the city.

This is one of the many small islands of Stockholm. It has one great hotel on it and a great Modern Art museum. To get to town you can either walk five minutes or take the ferry. The public bus system also is on the island. While only five minutes from downtown you feel miles away.

A short ferry ride finds you on this pretty island with its lovely views back to the city and its endless photo opportunities. Interesting signs details the histories of the scores of old boats moored at the quays. This is a very nice way to chill out for a while in Stockholm.

This island is a very special island with a couple of museums on it. The museum that I prefer here is the Museum of Modern Art which has a beautiful permanent collection and some great visiting exhibits. Check out what is there at the time of your visit. This island is also home to the Stockholm Music and Arts Festival... More
