Neighborhood: Östermalm
With its high-end shopping facilities and Michelin-starred restaurants, Östermalm is definitely the poshest part of central Stockholm. Here you will find Stockholm’s most majestic residential buildings, a beautiful market hall from 1888 displaying gourmet foods from around the world and the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre with its awe-inspiring architecture. At night, legendary nightclubs make the perfect location to observe the natives (and those aspiring to become natives of this exclusive neighborhood) in their natural habitat and to enjoy the latest produce of the Swedish house music scene.
How to get there
- Östermalmstorg • 2 min walk
- Hötorget • 7 min walk

Hugely overrated as the home for the party brats of Stockholm. The brat should however remember that he/she is so last year. Avoid places like Rose if you want to dance the night long. IF you come in it will cost you and once you are in forget about a drink at the bar.. Too many people there you will never make it unless you want to spend the hours numbly staring at the bar and approaching it with a speed of one feet an hour or so.

This is a picture of Sergels Torg, the center of the city also the location of the Kulturhuset (Cultural Center). Sergels Torg is a natural hub that brings together people from inner and outer suburbs as well as mixing those from a variety of income brackets. It is lively and there is always something going on. Stureplan is much more upmarket (and some might argue, therefore a little duller) but has nice restaurants, cafes and the most popular night spots. The distance between these two places is not more than a 10 minute walk but the atmosphere is completely different. What you like will depend on your taste and mood. Why choose when you can have both?

If you literally want to bump into people this is the place to go. Everybody is talking about it as it was the coolest place on earth but it is not. This is a place for wannabes and brats and for people who thinks they are somebody and totally lacking perspective. I am ok moving around in this area but I wouldn't go there just to hang out.

Dreadful ques, especially fridays. The door guards seems totally random in their choice who to let in. Not even so - you might suspect a more or less racist bias. The mood in some of the bars is snooty and ostentatious.

nice area for shopping, eating , or clubbing. one of the nicest place in central stockholm. A little far from the hustle and bustle of T centralen and closer to high end business offices.

The only place in the world where the club owners make their paying guests stay outside in minus degrees just to make a line to attract attention. The bars and the clubs have nothing compared to major cities like Berlin, Amsterdam, London, NY etc. But if you are in town you must find this out for your self.

Stureplan has also become a symbol for exclusivity. It is an area with many expensive and luxurious bars, restaurants and exclusive fashion shops.
You can also find the Sturegallerian mall. It is an exclusive mall in the middle of the square, with fashion boutiques, restaurants, cafes and the historic Sturebad spa from 1885.

Meeting place for the locals and centre of the posh neighbourhood of Östermalm. Clubs, restaurants, shopping around. Not really for budget travellers.

If you have come to Stockholm to enjoy the nightlife then Strueplan will surely be on your list to visit.
Plenty of buzzing hotspots here in the evening to enjoy. Expect plenty of beautiful people dressed impecably and queues to get into the trendiest spots.
Dress up and enjoy!

One of our favourite and frequent routes was along Sturegatan skirting the fine park Humlegarden with the great Royal Library and entering into Stureplan. It is a glamorous locale.
An impressive sculpture with water feature and topped by an eagle is to be seen. Lovely architecture is present, one of the prettiest being Arnoldhuset with a famous bar and nightclub.
We walked around the grand StureGallerian with a plethora of high end shops. Many cafes, bars and restaurants are located here and we had a coffee in one.

What is the round temporary building on the Stureplan in the warmer months? Maybe extra seating for the Sturehof...???
