- Liv VRome, Italy62 contributionsIt stands from the other museums in townIt is a very modern and interesting exhibition, definitely Stockholm benefits from Fotografiska. Given the often changing eviction it always depends on what it is shown at the moment, it could be bigger for the price. But yes, it is Stockholm.Visited August 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 27, 2023
- NICHOLAS TDubai, United Arab Emirates10,015 contributionsInteresting exhibitionWe thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The main exhibit was photographs documenting 50 years of hip hop, which included many pictures of iconic hip hop stars and also pictures of less famous people free styling. In addition, there was a very interesting interactive virtual reality experience and other thought provoking exhibits on other floors. There is a pleasant looking bistro on the top floor and a well stocked shop at the entrance/ exit. Well worth the admission fee.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 30, 2023
- ElliTravelTasteAthens, Greece455 contributionsART MOMENTIf you are a photography lover then Fotografiska is the right place for you. The collection was mostly consisted of portraits and everyday moments clicks. Don't miss visiting the café restaurant on the top floor since it a has an amazing view to the canals.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 17, 2024
- Garry BMelbourne, Australia23 contributionsWonderful museum worth a visitWonderful, modern museum dedicated to photography. Over a few floors on the waterfront there are a number of changing displays covering individuals, themes or styles - displays photography at its best. If you visit make sure you make time to visit the cafe or restaurant on the top floor. The food is good and the views out over Stockholm are magic. Highly recommend!<3Written May 22, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 18, 2024
- Guanjin77Mainz, Germany702 contributionsA Delightful Blend of Art and Cuisine at FotografiskaOur visit to the Fotografiska museum in Stockholm was a highlight of our trip. Located in Södermalm, just south of the old town (Gamla Stan) island, the museum is easily reachable by boat, including a direct connection that serves Fotografiska, or by a pleasant walk which took us a bit over 40 minutes from our hotel in Östermalm. The museum features two stories of exhibitions, and we were particularly impressed with the "Photo Syntheses" exhibition by Shepard Fairey. After exploring the exhibits, we dined at the on-site restaurant, which was a delightful experience. The three-course menu featured local products such as beetroot, mackerel, and pickled cucumbers. We also enjoyed their inventive cocktails, which added a special touch to our meal. The setting of the restaurant offers stunning views overlooking the shores of the old town and nearby islands, making it a perfect spot to relax and reflect on the art we had just seen. Fotografiska is absolutely worth the trip from central Stockholm, especially if you have an appreciation for photography and enjoy a nice meal with a view.Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 3, 2024
- Sadie B39 contributionsWOW - amazing, loved exhibits - a tad priceyI would consider myself an amateur connoisseur of art. But photography has not always piqued my interest however, I LOVED Shepard Fairey's work in the exhibit "Photo Syntheses". I was very impressed. I loved everything about it from the story at the beginning explaining who he is to the organization of the exhibit and definitely the work. It was hard-hitting and gave early 2000s rock music vibes mixed with skater vibes. The exhibit upstairs on sustainability was also very interesting and eye-opening to current issues around the world. It was very emotional. I will say it is a pricey museum.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 9, 2024

A very nice museum, with very interesting and accessible expositions. At the time I visited, it was very crowded which made me feel a bit annoyed and uncomfortable. So my point of advice: don't visit during peak hours. Definitely don't forget to visit the restaurant, at the top floor. The view from there is really amazing.

We visited in December and there had been a mix up regarding a poster we wished to purchase. Ida was so kind and helpful offering to find the poster for us and ship it to our home country (the web shop doesn't ship internationally). We really appreciated this kindness. The shop itself if also amazing with lots of unique items which would make perfect gifts.

The museum contains several themed exhibits which rotate so you should be able to find one or two of interest. The museum is well laid out and lighting is very good. Not sure if it was permitted but some people were taking pictures of the display photographs and no-body seemed to stop them (I can’t recall any signs to say it was prohibited). Overall a relatively small museum that you can get around in under an hour. Entry is also quite expensive and it didn’t really live up to my expectations.
Just be aware that the only way to get to the museum now is along the boardwalk where the ferry terminals are located. There used to be a staircase (and elevator I think, called the Stadsgårdshissen) just near the museum that connected the upper part of Sodermalm with the boardwalk but that is now closed due to all of the construction activities in the area. We had intended to use that but ultimately had to go back to Slussen station and navigate our way through the maze of construction paths and stairs to get down to the lower level, then go back to the museum.

Thank you for you visit! Yes, unfortunately the Söderbergs stairs are closed, but ones you are in Slussen you're almost here! Welcome back.

Loved this place right along the river (although with construction nearby, it is very inconvenient to walk to). Wonderful range of exhibits and loved the mini-bar up near the start where one could purchase a virgin or regular Bloody Mary (or a few other options) while browsing the exhibitions. Restaurant up at top had a wonderful view and the night club also looked promising, although I did not come back later to try it out. Fotografiska also opening a similar museum in New York City, which I will definitely check out the next time I’m there.

We used landline public transportation to go to the museum meaning we walked a lot. Immediately upon arrival we went to the cafe, and spent more than an hour there, just relaxing and enjoying excellent coffee and enchanting view. When it became chilly we went to the museum, which absolutely is worth visiting.

This is a bit out of the way, but well worth the walk. The photographs on show were sensational and you could've spent a lot longer in there than we did as we didn't realise how many rooms there were.
When we went, there were war photographs on show (by a very famous photographer whose name evades me) - these were amazing and very moving. Luckily we spent the majority of the time looking at these. Other rooms included portraits of famous people and ocean waste. We got lucky as we spent the majority of our time looking at the part of the museum that would've interested us the most anyway, but I would check to see what is on show and spend your time accordingly.

The Museum was holding a very hard hitting display of disasters, both natural and man made and this was supplemented by some more upbeat artistic photographic shots. Everything in there made you think. In a separate room were photos of major celebrities so there really was something for everyone. Outside is an open air bar serving great cocktails and there was a Dj playing. All this overlooking the water to the Stockholm skyline. Why a place !

This is my favourite museum in Stockholm, I try to go at least twice a year. There are always really cool exhibitions, and the view from the cafe is stunning. The entry is slightly pricy, however it is worth it! They also do student discount. In the summer there is a nice bar outside.

This is a good museum, in a good location with some nice touches. It has some great views and a well above average restaurant and bar (Where you get reduced admission if you eat). It also opens late into the evening so you can be flexible with your visit. When we visited there was a Sebastiao Salgado exhibition which was amazing, Recommended

This is one of my favorite musems in Stockholm, a picture says more than a 1000 words they say. And in this place you can really discover new sides of the world. They also have a BBQ area up front in the summer and during winter season they have a brunch buffet up on the top floor which is really delicious and modern.

How is the temperature during Stockholm’s July 2018 heat wave? Do they have AC?

Fotografiska has AC and my visit there was comfortable despite it has been extremely warm summer here up north.

Qual è l'orario del museo?
Ho letto orari differenti su guide/sito/TripAdvisor
Grazie
Written January 5, 2018

How much time does it take to visit the museum? Thank you!
Written December 2, 2017
It is more or less two hours (maybe less)
It depends.
If you are a foto-lover you will stay there like 2 hours.
If you are there because you are curious, then 90 minutes are enough in my opinion!

Hi,
In most of the exhibitions, taking photos is no problem at all. Sometimes though, as mentioned above, it could be bad if you use a flash since some photos can get damaged. But in those cases that will be specified in the exhibition!
Warmly welcome
Written November 28, 2017
Hi ,
Please tell me if the cafe/bar can be visited in its own right , i.e. without paying to enter the exhibition ( I have seen this already two days ago)
thanks ,
Adrian
