I partook in the 2 Week Cast Away training course at the beginning of October 2020. The daily theory, practical training, and live experience was well worth it and exceeded my expectations!! I can say that everyday my confidence and skill set grew! I was unsure about spending 2 weeks in a remote forest at the start of the autumn season in Sweden, but William (my and the group's leader and instructor) was an outstanding motivator, teacher and leader. His years of practical experience made the skills being taught easy/ easier to apply, rather than just reading about them in a book and trying them alone. 2 things are for sure that I can share after I returned home and reflected on my time there; 1- I am confident that IF I ever had to survive in the wild, I would be able to survey my area, choose the best area, build a shelter, start and maintain a fire, forage for food, and deal with common injuries. 2- It is hard work surviving in the wild WITHOUT the common tools, resources, and services available to us in the city/ populated areas/ when we go "camping" with our family and friends. This training has prepared me for survival and convinced me that I should always take every precaution to not end up "lost", "cast away", or secluded in the wild without training.

This was a wonderful relaxing and refreshing experience. Our guide Eric was interesting, chatty and funny. The scenery was beautiful. We went at a time when there was no one else on the water so all was quiet and serene. It was a little chilly when we stopped for lunch. I recommend changing into dry clothes on land if you are a little damp (at least at this time of year (October)).

I booked the 2 week cast away survival course and was looking forward to it for weeks. The course exceeded all my expectations! The location was great: beautiful forest and lake with plenty of fish and swimming opportunities (if brave enough to face the cold). There was a good balance of theory and practice: The theory was well structured, but never dull as William included personal anecdotes of his whacky survival experiences of the past 10+ years. Practice consisted of making fire, building your own shelter, setting up fishing lines, etc. (everything that is advertised on the website is in fact part of your training). The course is totally accessible to someone who has no previous survival experience and wishes to learn in a safe and controlled setting. That being said, it was a CHALLENGE. Bad weather, hard physical labour and being completely by yourself for days is tough but also very rewarding when you make it to the end! Thank you William, Nina and all the other participants for such a cool experience. I will be back!

Hi there, Thanks for your review. It was indeed a challenge but you overcame it in a brilliant way. Rain, cold, alone, and having to deal with this firewood to gather all the time. Still, you kept your mind up with seeing the beauty of this all, this is a key and you understood it very well. Well done really! Winter is coming soon, hope to see you in the winter program with us.

Absolutely wonderful day! The best way to see this beautiful country and return to Nature. This was my birthday activity choice, and hubster & I enjoyed every moment. The kayak was superb! Comfortable, roomy (for a kayak!), and very secure. Our guide, Alex, was super friendly and informative, and led at our level. We enjoyed the lunch he cooked us, and it kept us going for the rest of the day. We would love to do a longer trip in the near future - it was that good. Yes it’s physical, but the rewards are outstanding x
