The best thing to see in Stockholm. This is truely unique to Stockholm. Stunning and creative decorated metro stations. Just buy a ticket (36SEK) and you can travel on the whole metro system, just as long as you dont exit before you have been to all the station you wish to explore. My favorite station are : Radhuset (Blue Line) + Solana Centrum (Blue Line) + Tensta (Blue Line) + T-Centralen (Blue Line) + Stadion (Red Line).

This is a pleasant way to spend a hot summer day underground.
Also, an inexpensive way. The metro ticket costs 39 SEK (4 €) and is easily paid with a contactless credit card at the gate. The ticket is valid for 75 minutes. However, your card is not read when you get out through the gate.
We visited several stations but the best ones were Kungsträdgården, T-Centralen and Solna Centrum. They can all be found on the same blue line T11.

Before the trip to Stockholm I found an article about its metro stations with pictures. There was also a list of stations worth visiting. I am sorry for not giving the address of the article, but it's easy to find various options.
As there's no metro in our country, for us it's an unusual way of travelling by itself. But if stations are different and colourful the trip becomes even more interesting.
In addition I can say that for those who have never travelled by metro and don't understand the system, Stockholm metro is a nice place for learning. Plans of the metro are everywhere, exit signs are visible, information on coming trains is also visible. On the trains there are also plans and displays.
There are several lines of metro. As far as I understood the most picturesque stations are on the Red, Blue and Green line. We started with the Red, continued with the Blue and finished with the Green one.
An ordinary ticket is valid 75 minutes only, so to avoid stress (because walking along platforms, waiting for trains, changing lines takes time) we bought a travel card for 24 hours at the metro station.
Try not to take this trip during rush hours: start at 10 a.m. for example.

Tunnelbanekonst (subway station artworks) can be found on some subway stations in the Stockholm area. However, you won't find much of it at the central station. Instead, go just one stop further (on the blue line) to the "Kungsträdgården" stop. That's where you'll find the best subway art in Stockholm.

The Stockholm metro is more than just a transportation system. A couple of stations themselves are a work of art. The combination of rough - hewn out of the rocks - walls and colourful art is somehow a perfect match. Highlights are: the blue line at T-centralen, stadion, Kungsträdgården, Solna centrum (all on blue line) and Stadion (red line).

This is very nice. Easy to go to any train line. A good care was given when design for baby Prams. Good structure by distributing Train lines on different floors. Well connected with bigger shopping store like Ahlens. Also the grocery store Coop is also there.

Tunnelbanekonst is Swedish for “Metro Art”. Stockholm’s metro system has been called the world’s longest art gallery due to the artwork at 94 of the 100 metro systems.
You can get an introduction to the artwork through the free 1-hour guided tours called Art Walks by the Stockholm transit system. From June to August, there are guided art walks in English every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, starting at 3 pm from the SL Customer Centre, at T-Centralen Metro station (entrance from Sergels Torg). Tour is less frequent after August. You do need to buy a metro ticket. See their website for more information.

Stockholms tunnelbana (“Stockholm’s Tunnel Rail”) is the Stockholm subway or underground. It has some of the most beautifully decorated subway stations anywhere. Each station is like a different art exhibit. If you have the time, it can be fun to ride the subway (start with the blue line) and get off more a few moments at each stop. Many of the stations look like they were blasted out of solid rock with natural rock ceilings and walls. Very unique and fun!

It was nice to jump on and off stations and discover different types of art and design. Our favorites were: T-centralen, Stadion, Solma centrum, Kungsträdgården, Rådhuset, and Thorildsplan. We saw them all in an hour and 5 mins. The ticket last for 1 and 15 mins. So it was a great experience and cheap.

Unbelievable and incredible! How could such things be done to the subway stations?! It was unbelievably interesting to visit such beautiful and creative stations, sometimes we were just out of words. The tube itself is extremely clean and nice - looking. A day spent in the Stockholm tube is a must!

How do I book a tour and how much does a tour cost? We will be in Stockholm in mid July, 2019.
