A really great place to relax in the middle of Stockholm’s center of culture near the opera house. Lots of cafes and kiosks line the paths to feed your hunger and thirst while enjoying the park.

One of many statues around Kungstradgarden. Good place for a walk in the shade on a sunny day. Not sure who Karl XII was but supposedly some Swedish King.

During our free walking we visited many sites/sights. Seeing many attractions similar to this statue without having a guide we would have no idea of what it all means. The story goes this particular king was a warmonger, so much so he spent far to much money on his quests. The statue depicts him pointing to Russia, his mortal enemy. The four pots signify cowards. As the aristocracy would not finance his wars, they were the pots.
So he was known has a lion amongst cowards. we highly recommend having a guide when walking around the city, or read lots of books.

The Karl XII statue is located behind the Opera building and within the Royal Palace grounds. It has transformed over the centuries from the kitchen garden to the pleasure garden and more. Today, the park is filled with beautiful blooming flowers and plants, a few benches for the tourists and it offers views over the canal with the historic buildings as a backdrop. There is also a fountain and another statue of Karl XIII on the grounds.

The statue pointing towards the east and it is no coincidence; King Charles the 12th had ambitions to conquer (or at least make war with) Russia, but it ended not so good (Sweden was about to go under in poverty in the early 1700s) ... Nowadays the statue is a small symbol of outdated nationalism and past megalomania. It has a distinctive place in front of the castle and stands on the site of the once mighty 'mini-palace' Incomparable. Plastic is popular with locals for picnics and various events. The seagulls also have an excellent view from The King's finger ...!

Karl XII ruled at the start of the 18th century. The statue was erected in 1868, the 150th anniversary of his death. The statue is at the southerly edge of the Kungstradgarden, itself a nice green space.

One of the many wonderful bronze statues that provide charm and history to Stockholm. Karl XII was king from 1697 to 1718. This statue, located in the popular Kungsträdgården, was erected in 1868 on the 150th anniversary of the king's death.

This statue of Karl 12 by itself is nothing special nor something which you can not ignore, but it stays in the Kingstradgarden which by itself is a cute small garden with many people and food stands around.
