As we walked with my husband around town we came across a nice park. A lake, a family of sweet ducklings swimming, mothers with children, couples walking hand in hand and some elderly person reading a book in one of the banks. A normal scene in any green space. Suddenly we are astonished, we see graves in some bushes. It was the ancient cemetery of Malmö. An unusual place.

This cemetery is one of the most central that I have ever seen. In fact, at one point you have to cross over the road that was built through it. That said, it doesn't feel neglected at all and is home to beautifully maintained monuments across the whole of the well managed gardens. Worth a stroll.

On a walk back from the museum, via the park, you can end up entering this garden. It's lined with old burial plots. Its a nice alternative to walk through to get to and from the old town to the castle and transport museum.

I was in Malmo on a business trip, hence I didn't have much time to see the city, but I did have a few walks. This park/cemetery was very odd for me, because where I am from, cemeteries are not regarded as a place of recreation and fun walks, but more like grim places of grief and a fear of walking alone.
So this park was a very interesting new experience. Sure it had graves, but they were well taken care of, their design was pretty, historical..something about that place was mesmerisingly beautiful.. It was calm, yet there were people walking, it wasn't like it was abandoned or anything.. Quite a pleasurable experience.. It is amazing how the city managed to turn something like a cemetery in the heart of the city into an asset.

This is one of the most under rated parks in Europe, it is such a beautiful and relaxing park to enjoy for free. So many area's to stroll at your leisure with fountains, sculptures, canal. Plan to spend some time here and relax but don't miss it!

An old, lush, green, hushed and very beautiful, magic garden in the midst of the busy city centre. A river runs through it, sort of. at least a canal. Some of the graves are very old, many are interesting and tell a story. Equally lovely in Winter, spring, summer and autumn, which is not something you could say about most things.

One of the most beautiful things I've experienced in my stay in Malmö! Swedes have a beautiful way to remember their loved ones, and I know it sounds weird to visit a cemetery while on holiday but it is definitely worth a trip! The park is so peaceful and quiet, there were loads of locals walking around and even jogging while I was there and I loved it! Watch out for the big black birds, they are cute but if they feel threatened they might attack, so just leave them alone and you'll be fine! A must if you are visiting Malmö or any Swedish town really. While you're there, take a few minutes to see the inside of the nearby library, it's as beautiful and interesting!

The stroll in this park is quiet relaxing. With some ducks here and there just breaking the silence and it was a calm and mind relaxing stroll. Very typical of Scandinavian parks and gardens.
