About
Crawl into a real submarine and see exhibitions with focus on technology and seafaring. If you like to experiment, the Ideas Planet is an obvious favourite, and in the Boat Playroom all children are invited to play. The Science and Maritime House is part of the Malmo Museer.

- The_Coach55Ruislip, United Kingdom916 contributionsGood for Fans of TransportThe Technology and Maritime museum is part of the Malmö museum complex. It is a short walk away from the castle. The 40 SEK admission fee at the castle entitles you to free entry here. I enjoyed the maritime section with much information about the vagaries of Swedish weather and details of several seafaring disasters over the years. There is a vast array of various types of transport on display including aircraft, buses, heavy vehicles and those from the emergency services. I liked the recreation of the cockpit of the first commercial aircraft to land at Malmö airport. Unfortunately the submarine was not available to be viewed at the time of my visit. This is a particularly good place for children as there are many interactive exhibits.Visited November 2021Traveled soloWritten November 4, 2021
- helen j17 contributionsAmazing placeUnconscious good place. We could barely come from there with so many interesting sights. The museum itself is very interactive and diverse. It lines up a number of means of transportation, and the most exciting thing is that we can see a real submarine from the inside. Wonderful! At the top level is an innovative, experimental space where you can try out some very fussy experiments. And the entrance fee is absolutely fine. You need the same entrance as for the castle. Both places are included in the price. Amazing place. The most interesting museum.Visited June 2021Written July 28, 2021
- Ditchie_89Derbyshire, United Kingdom28 contributionsGreat Rainy Afternoon in MalmoWe visited here whilst on a weekend break to Copenhagen. We decided to visit Malmo for the day. Which I have to say there was not a whole lot to do. So even though Museums are not the usual thing we like to visit, we gave it ago as there was not a lot else. I have to say what a great afternoon we had. We must of been there for a couple of hours. The museum was really interactive. We went just two adults who enjoyed. There was also lots of children who were there also enjoying it. Seems a great place to go for everyone. The price was fantastic around £4 each, which also gave you entrance to the castle. If you find yourself looking for something to do in Malmo I really recommend this place!Visited February 2020Written March 6, 2020

Great experience, especially for families with children! Easy to visit and full of interesting information, combining the technical notions with accessible information and practical experiments. Also the access fees are very low, and you can but an access ticket to Malmo castle which can also be used to access the Technology Museum.

When it comes to maritime history, the technology that goes into shipbuilding and navigation is as important as any piece of equipment. This is especially true for museums like the Maritime Museum of San Francisco (MMSF). MMSF is home to one of the largest collections of maritime artifacts in the world, and it’s also home to some of the most advanced technologies for displaying and interpreting these artifacts. In this review, we will take a closer look at how MMSF uses technology to help visitors learn more about maritime history. From virtual exhibits to interactive displays, read on to learn more about how technology can help make your visit to the Maritime Museum even more informative.

I used to bring my kids here very often they loved it then and they still love it. Great for you kids and older ones. It’s been newly renovated. Still think they could use a cafe and more welcoming entrance.

There was only a couple of attractions that I wanted to check out whilst in Malmo and this was decidedly better than the Konstmuseum. Lots of cars, engines and basic transport information and a good yet claustrophobic climb through a submarine. It's well worth using the free entry which you get if you buy a ticket for the konstmuseum 200 yards down the road but for just the one entry? Stick to this and avoid the boring Konstmuseum

This was a fun little local museum. There are a half dozen historic planes and a couple dozen historic cars, motorcycles, and motorized bicycles here. There is a Swedish military submarine outside and some maritime exhibits too. It doesn't take too long to see. The ticket covers this museum and the on at the Malmohus castle.

I really enjoyed this museum which had a good collection including plenty of hands on exhibits and the staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very nice. The fully restored submarine which you can climb aboard and explore was the highlight for me. On the down side, while there is english information for most of the collection, some of the exhibits do not have english information.

For the cost of 40SEK we got to visit the maritime museum and malmo castle.
The technological and maritime museum was the first place and we were blown away.......
From the working engines to the cockpit, to the air traffic control room where you could hear live broadcasts to the bikes and cars throughout the years.........
But there's more!
Not only can you walk through a submarine but also geek yourself out on a variety of scientific experiments and activities.
I would love to bring my kids here (and they are free too!) a must for families and geeks alike!
A malmo must!

This museum at first glance looks to be a bit small and perhaps somewhere to entertain the kids for an hour or two. However, the more time you invest in the exhibits, the more you will gain in return. The highlight is the WW2 submarine. Impressively large from the outside but so small inside you wonder how submariners could live in such conditions. There are helpful fact sheets in all languages to provide you with basic technical information about the sub, but the best thing of all is the guides that will talk to you in detail about life on a sub. These guides are real submariners that have seen active service and happily share their experiences with you, in perfect English.
The aviation section includes a control tower where you can sit and visualise planes landing and taking off. Then go down to the basement in the big industrial lift and wander around the vintage cars, but take time to watch the videos; I found the original Volvo advertisement quaint and interesting. The best vehicle here is the ambulance bus that was used to help bring back refugees once the concentration camps were liberated after WW2. The video that accompanies the exhibit shows actual footage of the refugees returning; it is deeply moving.
This museum is well worth the entrance fee and I could have spent much longer there.

Hi Mariia,
Unfortunately, the exhibition about the bridge is closed. The bridge was a temporary exhibition and was exhibited at Malmö Museums in 2015 and 2016. Best regards, Saskia, Malmö Museums
