- TJ-GlasgowGlasgow, United Kingdom2 contributionsThis was a First! As a Brit (Scottish) and usually a bit reserved, I found this a fantastic experience. Went on Christmas Day and went native. Sea was damn cold but had a dip then sauna with a warm cup of local mulled wine. Enjoyed it so much had another dip in the sea. Yes it’s nude but having played sports all my days with showers that are open this is no different other than the sea swim. Go for it folks and enjoy.Visited December 2022Traveled soloWritten December 29, 2022
- markitikiOrlando, Florida694 contributionsExtremely worth doingAfter 9 days traveling and exploring, we wanted to relax but also wanted to experience the authentic sauna culture of Sweden. Ribersborgs Kallbadhus was exactly that: there were locals walking in and out to use the facilities. The actual experience was incredible, and relaxing. While we only stayed for an hour, we could have stayed all day!Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 12, 2023
- Steven MGateshead, United Kingdom27 contributionsCould have stayed all dayA friend and I visited this place as we wanted to relax and experience a traditional Scandinavian sauna. This place is awesome. You are separated into male and female sides with two saunas on the male side (a third was under renovation). The saunas were lovely and then to be able to dip into the sea afterwards was quite the experience. The facilities were clean and everyone was very friendly. Lots of locals chatting, which didn't bother us, but in general people were very respectful of the relaxing atmosphere. We took our swimwear, but actually the saunas require you to be naked (or wrapped in a towel). We were only able to stay for about an hour, but I imagine that on a sunny day you could spend the whole day there quite happily.Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 30, 2023
- Mariel V13 contributionsAmazing authentic experience.Loved it!This was so cool and authentic. Very relaxing. The swimming in the cold Oct Sea was amazing after the sauna. Be aware, men and women are separated, the women's part had a friendly atmosphere, everyone doing their own thing. No bathing suits allowed, but you can keep on to your towel easily if you want that (except for the swimming of course). Very nice experience!Visited August 2023Written August 31, 2023
- Shadow P6 contributionsClear, cold water; stunning historic buildingVisited here on a whim on a day trip from Copenhagen. As a reserved Brit I was alerted on reception that this is of course a naked bathing/sauna. (You could wear bathers but you would look like a weirdo doing that in Sweden, and honestly you don't even feel self conscious, because why would you when noone else is). The water was so beautiful and clear and of course bracingly cold. The building is from the late 19th century and reached by a walkway. The design is stunning and its lovely to see the old photos of bathers from the early part of the 20th Century in the cafe. Saunas with a view of sailboats on the ocean is the ultimate relaxation experience.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 18, 2023

Avoid booking a massage here! Rude staff. We arrived 10 minutes late for the massage because of travel difficulties, we had paid in advance but the lady in the massage room refused to accommodate us and was very rude in the process. The bath itself is wonderful, and the staff at reception were helpful.

In the sunbathing area at the back it gets extremely crowded on sunny days. Nothing is done to keep a distance between visitors. Normally this is a fantastic place, but I can not recommend a visit as long as the pandemic continues.

The facility lies just by a beach and it has a lot of the old fashion charme
There is also a cafe/bistro by the entrance
Me and my girlfriend went there and the thought of us having some quality time faded very quickly
The sauna is divided in male-female sections
There are two suona for each gender but none of them is functional.
One is suppose to be damp sauna and the other just dry(I cannot see the sense of it BTW).
They are both useless because dry and either too hot or too cold
The only one that functions well (absurdly)is the one shared male/female which is the smallest and the most crammed of course
Today there were about 10 old guys talking non stop about the football match super loud
When my girlfriend got fed up about it she said if they could either stop of talk with a lower tone, they even mobbed her
For the all time we were there (2 hrs) there was people keep talking very loudly so much that it felt like I was more in a pub then in relaxing place
I wondered what the staff were there for since none of them turned a hair
It is a shame because the place is beautiful and could offer an outstanding experience to the customers
Maybe the stuff should be either better trained or trained at all or just a bit more attentive to the customers well-being

Like stepping into a time machine that takes you back in time. Very charming! Excellent view from the sauna where you sit as long as you manage and then you throw yourself out in the ice cold water - wow. Be aware that the place is all nude which for some may feel a bit awkward at first but after a while you do not even think about it. Separate sections for men and women. Definitely the highlight of our 24 hours in Malmö and the price is very affordable.

Wow wow and wow... we went here 3 days in a row...it was so great. The view over to Denmark, the saunas, the quiet atmosphere and skinnydipping in the Ocean. Wow. This was great. And after some hours ending it all with a beer outside. Just perfect. Pretty cheap for a visit. Be aware - this is scandinavian sauna - so it is nude.

What a wonderful and liberating experience. Everyone was super lovely, staff and guests alike. Everyone speaks English and they're happy to answer any questions you may have. So even as a first timer I quickly felt welcomed and at ease. The café has the most delicious cakes, perfect to end the visit. You'll feel happy, healthy, and relaxed for sure.

You're a bit off the tourist trail here, and I actually found some Swedes who didn't speak English (or didn't want to) - first time ever! Being an all-naked sauna, sadly I didn't have my trusty phrasebook or smartphone translation app with me.
This is an historic landmark, built in the late 19th century, but still very much a working sauna. This whole coastline is a bit bleak (Malmo comes from old Swedish that means "pile of gravel" or some such), which makes the old wooden building at the end of the wooden pier/bridge seem even more atmospheric.
Things to take with you: a small padlock (or, if they've got any in stock, it'll set you back 65 crowns for a key-one or 90-odd crowns for a combination-one) and a towel - although they'll rent you a towel for 40 crowns (plus your ID as a deposit), the first time I went they didn't have any available. (If you do rent one, bring it back to the till to drop it in the basket in exchange for your ID.) Sauna sandals / flip flops / Crocs too if you've got them, but I didn't bother and many people didn't.
Thing not to take with you: swimming costume. You'd just look odd. And they're actually forbidden in the saunas themselves, I believe.
Layout is a bit odd for an out-of-towner (Brit!) like me - I was expecting a reception / front desk separate to the cafe, but it's the same thing: right in front of you as your enter, there are two tills and you want the further one.
You just need to ask for "entry" - it's about 65 crowns. Rent a towel if you need one. You can also ask for disposable (free) square towel thingy to sit on in the saunas.
Then you just go through a fairly nondescript solid looking door ahead of you (different door for men and women - I can only speak for the former but I think the latter is a mirror image), and step outside again into a maze of piers, bridges and changing cubicles.
You walk straight on - there are "beach-hut" style wooden changing cabins (the originals I guess) that you can use to get changed in and leave your clothes there (even valuables if you're too tight to buy a padlock) along the side (and an amusing "weather station" gag), but keep going until you get to the door by the ice-cold-water bucket up high with a rope attached (don't pul the rope...). That's the more familar swimming pool style changing rooms, with lockers.
Two sizes of locker - big ones to shove all your stuff in (with helpful little shelf bits too but no hanger for your jacket) or teeny ones big enough for your wallet and phone. If you use the latter, you can just leave your clothes on the hooks over the benches or back in the little wooden beach-huts if you used those.
Strip off completely. No modesty allowed here (you can wrap your towel around your waist if you're shy). I think it's probably polite to grab a shower in the next room (the WCs are in the same room as the lockers).
You've then got hooks to hang your (big) towel on, and a choice of three saunas.
To the right is the coolest and most humid: it's the one that's shared with the (equally naked) ladies. It's got something like 60% humidity, the key difference being that there's a water squirter thing that periodically (every 5 mins or so) squirts a dose of water onto the coals and gives everyone a quick steam bath. There's a big window too (which I didn't expect) giving a view across the Baltic / Oresund. Make sure you exit through the correct door.
In between is the moderate sauna: much drier (no water) and something like 80-90 Celsius if memory serves, so a bit hotter. This one has two doors, so you can enter on the humid sauna side and leave at the far side.
Which leads you nicely into the left-most and most masochistic sauna. This one is 95-100 degrees Celsius, 10% humidity (i.e. Arizona) and has not just the big coal heater thing but an additional fire-burning stove with a chimney for good measure. Two windows with great views of the Bridge and the masochists outside. Make sure that you sit on a towel (ouch!). I only lasted 5 minutes in this sauna each time.
Having done all that, it's time to do the bit that tells the men from the boys. First of all, walk outside - not just outside the sauna, but back outside into the open air. Now you have a choice: take a right along the Pier of Doom to the steps to the Baltic and (carefully - hold on, there's algae on the lower steps) lower yourself in to the sea for a skinny dip. You can swim over to the platform if you like, and say hello to any ladies doing anything equally stupid. Or, you can walk straight ahead to the double set of steps down into the Charydis of Chilliness: no warmer than the other option, but a bit less windswept and a bit more sheltered from the open sea. Bear in mind I was doing this in October - cold for a southern Softy Englander like me - but granted not the snow-covered environment I've seen in some of the photos on the website!
Having invented new swearwords and got back out, head for a nice warm shower - or go through the whole process all over again, skipping the bits you're wise enough to avoid second time around. Don't forget to return your towel if you rented one.

Also...
I ate lunch there: the daily special was great. The layout is a bit odd: there was inclusive coffee/tea (get cup from far right of bar, then go to coffee jugs at the other end), and a side salad (get plate from far right of bar, then get salad from the stage on the other side of the room... be warned that the green stuff isn't guacamole, it's cold mushy peas...).
----
And I treated myself to a full classic Swedish massage (well,,you've got to really, when in Rome...): 590 Crowns. You have to book in advance (by phone or with their app).. The massage rooms entrance is in the locker room - just knock when you're ready to go in. I had Nadine - she was great. The strength in her fingers and hands belied her small physique. Relaxing and it fixed several aches and pains I had. Well worth it.

Perhaps a silly question- is this ice sea bath / spa experience available in winter months (February)?
Får man inte bada tillsammans med sin flickvän eller basta
Jag och min flickvän kommer att besöka nån dag då vet vi att vi kan bada och basta tillsammans. Och det kan man göra varje dag 😀

Hi, visiting here in Febraury with my partner. Happy to hear that there is a mixed sauna room but just curious as to whether to jumping into the sea part can be done together?
Thank you :)

No , that is done separate. But from january 2018 there Will be one Day of the month where This Can be done.

I am looking at taking the NIN tour in January or February. Not the most favorable time to travel I know and am concerned about weather or not we will be able to do all segments of the tour in the cold. Any thoughts?
Also, we are arriving in Oslo and headed to Bergen. Thinking of flying from Bergen to Copenhagen. Has anyone done this and do you advise it?
Thirdly, If i am understanding correctly if you are on the tour you can get off at different places and get back on at your leisure if you want to extend the trip?
