Well worth the visit! One can wonder and spend hours keeping warm and relaxing while reading in a beautiful setting, playing board games, looking at the art display and learning about the history of Sundsvall, animals and life in the past in the museum.

Different exhibitions on art, history and nature, all of them quite small, but most of them interesting. I spent maybe about an hour there and really enjoyed it. It was my first time in Sundsvall, so this museum was a very good starting point. There are some souvenirs for purchase as well.

The museum itself just didn't fit together for me. Another reviewer said it wasn't "cohesive" which I agree is a good term. They wanted to make appeal to such a large audience they lost the focus of what they wanted the museum to represent. The building itself is stunning and a beautiful architectural piece.

We walked the city 'storgaten' from our Scandic City Hotel admiring the interesting 'turn of the 20th C' architecture along the way. Arriving at the Sundsvall Museum, we discovered an architect had connected 4 of these 1890's buildings with glass providing for a large open courtyard. This space was used for their library, cafe sitting, a museum gift shop, and above, connecting walkways between the building's upper floors. The local museum had an elevator to see its 3 floors of early household items, artifacts from a 500 AD burial site, stuffed birds and mammals, and a great view of the Good Morning Hotel barge with the pulp mill in the distance.

Kulturmagasinet is an interesting place to visit, I am using the word interesting in a mix of the British and American vernacular when I say that. What I mean is that if you like museums, quiet and somewhat dry information then this is worth while your time but if you have kids or like more active entertainment then this is not for you. I like this if I have a few hours to spare between things and I want calm and peace but I could also vist a Church so I would maybe recommend a church instead.
