Although not a very safe ruin (if disabled, forget it) the views are superb and the scale of the castle can be appreciated. Not destroyed by the earthquakes so good testament to how well it was constructed

A visit to the castle this September was a highlight of our holiday. Views were amazing. It was really interesting, very windy on the day we went. Had lunch at the Kastro which is always great. Especially the cheesecake. Flat shoes or trainers recommended.

Survived the earthquake. Free entry and a couple of hours wandering around. The restaurant just before the castle is also worth a visit. Family run and good food at reasonable prices

Firstly, it is important to note that there are two routes up to the castle by road. The first, easily visible from the main road in Peratata, climbs steeply up the mountainside with a hairpin bend about a third of the way up and another...More

We visited this week. Currently open (no charge) 8:30 to around 2:30 Tuesday - Sunday (closed Mondays). Excellent cafe/taverna next to entrance still excellent and seems to be thriving.
