Late February but the weather was very mild with plus Celsius degrees. Nevertheless it was a great experience on the ice (Luleå älv) and get a “spark”. If you find one you can use it for free. There was an iceskating race on our visit...More

We actually started in Södra Hamn (by the old crane), rather than Norra Hamn but it all connects. As others have said there are kick sledges you can borrow - it's best to get one the right size if you're going any distance. We visited...More

Never walked on ice covered sea water before, didn’t know this was here but great!! Free slays to use. Clearly used by locals looking to get across town quicker, many on skates.

It feels surreal walking on the sea ice. It is like an extended part of the town. People push prams, walk, skate, cycle, sledge........like being in a park made of ice and snow. We went for a dog sled ride at night and traveled over...More

Walking the ice road of the frozen sea of Luleå is more fun actually than imagined. Now, Luleå is windy about 98% of the time so wear proper winter clothes - especially for the little ones. Bring ice skates for some extra fun. At Gråsjälören...More

It is a wonderful and exciting feeling to walk over the frozen sea road. It is a great feeling to see people walking and doing ice skating and various other activities under sub-zero temperature, especially when the sun is shining on the horizon !!

Recommend to go for a walk or skate if you are in Luleå in the spring time, its usually many people on the ice.

Just get early to the ice track and grab a free-to-use "ice-kick" and set out into the archipelago. Stop at Gråsjälören and have waffles. On the ice is the place to be. At least during winter!

Absolutely. In Luleå you can go kayaking, fishing, enjoy the archipelago by boat and/or rent a cabin on the islands. There's also a floating sauna you can rent. Check out the explorelulea website (use google)
