I used Lulea for everything for a trip up north with my partner in early January. The package that they advertised online was exactly what we wanted and they were so helpful once we contacted them.
We were collected from the airport by a guide, with a sign right by the baggage collection. He gave us great advice on what to do and dropped us at the hotel. The hotel Clarion Sense was a great hotel, but we recommend booking the spa early as it was completely unavailable during our stay sadly.
All activities worked exactly as advertised, we were met right at the hotel lobby. The snow shoeing and dog sledding were both epic. Lulea travel was also very helpful when the weather wasn't looking so great, and they were so amenable to us moving an activity to a different day.
Our flight home was very early, so the Lulea travel guide was unavailable but a taxi was arranged for us and prepaid, so it was so easy.
All in all, Lulea Travel were fantastic and everything was so perfectly arranged. I highly recommend them for a trip to Lulea, to ensure that all activities work smoothly.

What an experience! My boyfriend and I went on a winter trailride in Sweden at Rånisgården. Booked at Luleå Travel!
Dirk got us a private Taxi, he came right on time!
Unfortunately, the diver took us to the neighbours and we had to walk a little. But Roger, the owner of the stables, was also looking for us so we did find each other.
After that, we got into the stables. Before all that, I sent an email with our experience with horseriding to Dirk and he forwarded that to Roger. Thanks to that, we had the perfect horses for our experience.
Dennis rode Patrick, a mix of a PRE with a Swedish draft horse and I got Zozo, a Quarter/Morgan. We made a trailride of one and a half hour in the Swedish Lapland.
Where you actually don't see anyone but yourself, your horse and the people around you. Such a beautiful pure Nature.
I really thought I would get freezing cold with -18 degrees, but that was not the case. This was due to the active trail, walk, trot, canter over the trails and diving deep into the snow with these 4x4 horses. We also did change to warmer gear, all sizes are available there. You can get gloves, suits, boots and you can also get a helmet (we brought our own).
If you don't have any experience you can also do a trail ride. Roger is a good teacher!
You get to know your horse and you will start in the arena where you will learn the basics and then you can go on the trail.
The tail and horse will be adapted to your experience.
During the trail, Roger explained a lot about the nature, houses, trails, legends and historical stuff. It was very interesting!
Afterwards, we had a delicious Swedish lunch with coffee and tea together with Roger. This is worth repeating! The bread made by his wife was delicious!!!
Roger is a real horse lover and knows a lot about western riding and trail riding. It was a pleasure to learn new things about that.
The horses are in good shape and are well cared for, outside/inside with enough food and water. Good horse management and friendly!
Big thanks to Roger for this amazing experience, kindness, hospitality and for the stuff we have learned!
And to Dirk for the organization and the support and customer service.
It was worth it!!!

My wife and I did the 9 day self drive tour of the Lofoten Islands and Swedish Lapland in the second half of September, which is a great time to see the Northern Lights. Everything was perfectly planned and a representative was available on WhatsApp during the trip for any problems that arose. The trip covers a very large area and sometimes involved many hours of driving so people intending to do this should check the itinerary carefully. The company is open to making changes as per your requirements so if you want to lengthen the trip and drive shorter daily distances, this is possible. We did see wild reindeer along the way and one lone moose. but this is a matter of luck. The hotels selected for us were very good for the most part although the restaurants in some of them were exorbitantly expensive and you didn't always have another option due to the location. We also stayed at the Treehotel in Harads on our last day but in the ensuite room in the main building as we didnt want to stay up a tree, but the place is worth staying at anyway.
We saw the Northern Lights in Reine (Lofoten Islands) and a fantastic display in the Abisko National Park, which is recommended as the best place in the whole area to see it.
All in all, a great experience.

Hello Eric, thank you so much for taking the time to share this 5-star review with our team. We love hearing how much you enjoined the Lofoten Islands and Swedish Lapland self-driving holiday and that the whole booking process with Luleå Travel run smoothly.
We know you have choices when it comes to your travel adventures and it means the world that you were coming back to us after the cancellation of the original trip during 2020 as result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks again for supporting our local business and we hope to hear from you again the future!

Not happy that they still went ahead with the Northern lights trip even though the forcast and figures said there was no chance of northern lights that night and there was 95-100% cloud cover.. I feel they just took the money for the trip and it didn't matter if you saw the lights or not. I know they are natural and it is not 100% either way but they should only go out if there is at least a chance of seeing them. Even the guide admitted when they picked us up that the lights would not be seen as low down as Lulea that night. They then took us to 3 spots that they always go to and they were all very near to and or next to street lights, etc. I have been with other companies in other areas on northern lights hunts and they do not go out if the weather ,etc is that bad , they take you to places well away from towns, lights, etc and drive around looking for the signs of the lights not just go to set spots that they always use- near to the city .

Hello Carol, thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear your experience at Luleå Travel didn’t match your expectations. We always run our Northern Lights tours, also during cloudy weather. It’s not always easy to predict how the weather will be and sometimes the local situation can be different than forecasted. Regardless of the weather our guides will always do their best to provide an informative tour with background information about the Northern Lights, check out different viewing spots and have a drink by the open fire. We have many spots to choose from and some or closer to the city then others. We will share your comment with our guide team to continually improve our guest experience. If you have any other comments, please contact us at info@luleatravel.com Kind regards, Dirk

Lulea made it much easier to navigate Lapland than I could have done on my own. We took a Northern Lights tour between Christmas and New Year's, which is a very busy time in Northern Sweden. It was very helpful to have all our taxi transfers already set up in addition to the activities and accommodations that Lulea set up. We got very lucky to see a one hour light show of the aurora when we visited the Abisko mountain top station.
There could have been a bit more explanation though on what to expect for each activity provided (e.g., I was expecting a small group tour for the aurora chase by car, but instead, it was a large bus where only a few of us were given warm outdoor clothes and ultimately when there was no chance of seeing the aurora due to weather, we would have rather gone back to the hotel than wait outside). In addition, I think some of the activities could have been better organized by the operators (e.g., the dog sled activity didn't have organized warm clothes and didn't help to find the right size boots for someone in our party, so they had to wear the completely wrong size despite having our shoe sizes in advance). I also think that some of the descriptions "oversold" what they included, such as the car tour discussing the aurora, myths and legends of the area, and the national park, when they didn't really discuss anything like that. Finally, the STF Abisko Turiststation was basically as busy as they could be which impacted the service level. It was fine, but just want to warn any potential visitors that they are stretched thinly in extremely high volume periods.
Overall though, it was very helpful to have Lulea there to organize the logistics of the trip. I would have been rather lost when planning on my own without them. Ruby was very responsive and easy to work with as it came to planning and payment. Would recommend Lulea definitely, but think some of the activities could improve per my previous points.

Thank you for your feedback, Kaye. We appreciate your honest opinion and are always looking for ways to improve our services. Our Northern Lights car tours in Luleå are always operated with maximum 8 persons a car, but other suppliers can use larger vehicles during peak season. We are sorry to hear that you missed information during the northern lights tour in Abisko, we will make sure your feedback reaches the supplier. Overall, we are glad that you had a great experience with Luleå Travel and that we were able to make your trip to Swedish Lapland easier and that you saw magical 1 hour aurora light show when visiting the Aurora Sky Station. Hope you once come back to Swedish Lapland. Warm regards, team Luleå Travel

Big thanks to Ruby and the Lulea Travel team for their help, advice and ease of communication to help me plan our family adventure to Swedish Lapland. I'm a firm believer in using a local agent when travelling to a totally unknown area for the first time and recommend their services to fellow travellers.
I didn't get the name of the French/Swedish lady who met us at Lulea Airport from Lulea Travel and gave us a drive-through with commentary through the city itself to our destination (a slightly longer way to the Lodge than the direct route, but she did ask us if we wanted to do it first!!), so please pass on our thanks to her.

Our trip was re-arranged so many times due to flight cancellations that Dirk must have thought "Oh no, not again!". But, every time we had to change dates, hotel overnights and activities he and his team came through. Even on the day of our arrival he was able to reserve a dog sledding for the next day.
Rik was a great guide for our outing to Gammelstad and we learnt quite a bit from him that we would otherwise be unaware of. He was also able to point us to a couple of places in Lulea to learn more about the Sami, but the museum was unfortunately closed because of the newest Covid19 restrictions.
The transfer from Lulea to Abisko was also not without problems (due to weather?), train cancelled, replacement bus not turning up but once again the team came into action and provided us with the means to get to Abisko, even going as far as making sure there would be a warm meal when we eventually arrived.
Despite the challenges we had a wonderful time and Lulea Travel was instrumental in making this a memorable experience. We normally arrange our own travel but this time we are glad we relied on the local knowledge, especially for the transfers.
The purpose of our trip was to see the Aurora, and thanks to Dirk and the team at Lulea Travel we were able to see them on two separate occasions in Abisko.

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback! Great to read you had a wonderful time in Swedish Lapland and saw the Northern Lights! It was indeed a challenge to keep up with all the changes before travelling caused by Covid-19. This even continued due to the harsh winter circumstances during your stay. We are happy that we succeeded to get you in Abisko when, even the train from Luleå was cancelled. Under these circumstances our flexible approach, experience and local knowledge comes out the best! Thanks again and we hope this holiday has created memories for life!

This was such an awesome trip! The staff was wonderful and very accomodating in making the trip unique to what we wanted to do. The staff was also extremely professional, knowledgable, and fun, which made the experience that much better. I also felt the price was a wonderful value for everything that was included. I would 100% recommend Lulea Travel for anyone's Northern Sweden adventures! Thank you!

With the excellent support of Luleå Travel we had an absolutly fantastic riding experience. Our guide Lena came with us and due to her riding experience she was capable of doing photos of us all through the riding trip. We are very grateful that this perfect experience is captured in photos.
Even though I have not been very much riding before and was a bit anxious the farm owner is a very good teacher who really made me understood what I was doing in the saddle. I became so much more self-assured and comfortable. I was totally in control which had never happened before. I even had trust to do the trott. Incredible.
Due to good weather and ice conditions we were able to do the tour on the frozen, snowy lake which was amazing.
In addition I should mention that we did the Western riding style and the owner has shown us before the tour some riding basics to make sure we were in control. Overall you could recognize that he did the tours, the teaching of the horses and handling of the horses with a lot of passion. Impressive!
And we got the opportunity to change into warmer gear. They have everything you need to stay warm during the riding.
After the tour we were invited to a little fika. He really made an afford for us.
We would absolutely do it again any time. Its absolutely worth it.

Recently returned from my trip to Swedish Lapland arranged by Ruby from Lulea Travel. Absolutely amazing holiday and should be on everybody's bucket list. The hotels were of a high standard. The tree hotel was amazing and the Ice Hotel was just something else. Slept in one of the cold rooms, great sleep. The tours and activities that Ruby arranged were fantastic, the tour guides were very knowledgeable and the activities including reindeer and dog sledding, snowmobile and visits to a moose farm and a Sami traditional lunch and coffee. Trip to the Sky station at Obisko was something incredible. Ruby kept me appraised of travel delays and postponement of my snowmobile outing due to rain.
I had to delay my trip by a month due to Covid issues due to Sweden not accepting South African vaccination card. Ruby had to rebook everything which was seamless. Everything went like clockwork, exceptional holiday, well done Ruby.
