Persistent low cloud and drizzling rain cut out any chance of the views to be had but did not diminish the fun to be had from riding the rail cruisers. Very clever computer system controls the operation and once you get used to the "no driver" in control, sit back and enjoy the ride.. Our six year old granddaughter really... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this activity and even the drive to it. The trains are quite safe and even good and cool weather. They have plastic sides to close and blankets available. The countryside was magnificent. We were all glad we took it.

This journey in individual rail cars is huge fun. And if you love NZ trees and bush you get a great view of wonderful rimu and lancewoods and many more. There are also beautiful views across to Lake Rotorua. The 'self drive' railcars are cleverly designed, the staff are knowledgeable and safety conscious, the whole experience is highly recommended.

Booked to go on Fathers Day with my husband and my Dad, really enjoyed sitting back and taking in the sights, the weather was a little overcast, but didn't dampen the day as the rail cruisers are complete with waterproof covers which do not hamper the viewers outlook, even has windscreen wipers and heating. Really easy to understand the directions... More

We took our 6 year old niece who was free. The weather wasn't the greatest but the carts have covers & a blanket if you feel the cold easily like me. It's a pity it doesn't go right too ngogotaha that would be awesome. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I spent a most enjoyable afternoon yesterday at Railcruising, in the Mamaku’s, Rotorua. Didn’t know what to expect, but absolutely loved it. Watched the safety video and off we went. The little wagon we sat in was great, and the views of New Zealand native bush were amazing. I knew we had a lot of natives, but... More

These rail cars are a pretty innovative way to get across the country side. Overall I thought the event was pretty good - maybe a tad on the expensive side. I feel like if I went again, I would want a glass of wine and a nice selection of cheese and crackers to enjoy while cruising. Our 5 year old... More

Great fun, even on a cold wet day. We really enjoyed the clickerty clack of the train as we travelled along an historic rail line just north of Rotorua in our little private cart. Views of beautiful native NZ bush and local farmland were not hidden by the showers and rugs provided kept us warm and snugly. Great commentary with... More

Wow, this was a spur of the moment excursion on our way out of Rotorua and because of the bad weather there were not alot of people there. i can see why you would need to prebook as was suggested. railcruising is quite new to the Rotorua adventures but we just loved it and will definitely be back with the...
