You can see the remnants of intentionally sunken Viking ships, mainly reconstructed, with only a very few original parts. The historical context is explained only in a few descriptions alongside the ships. A historical experience is not conveyed. The experience "inside a Viking ship" let you enter alongside ship, which predominantly consists of a stirring wheel and a few benches where you can have a seat to watch a thunderstorm on a screen in front of you with a wildly moving horizon, while your ship remains fixed to its place. No more the kind of hand-on experience of this decade. In the outdoors you can find replicas of the boats, but also without any kind of historical embedding. In the shipyard two craftsmen showed their skills in woodworking, speaking fluently Danish - unfortunately not my language.…

But if you like vikings you must see it. Most interesting is to see and board the replicas eg the sea stallion long ship. And to visit and talk to the carpenters worling outside. The old museums with the original ships feels very outdated and needs more interactivity, eg like Mosgaard museum at Aarhus. …

The museum is pretty small and all they have is 5 old ships. It is too expensive compared to what you experience in it. But at least you can climb aboard a fake ship outside (at least we did it, not sure if it is allowed)

The 5 Viking ships of Skuldelev, discovered in 1962 in the Fjords of Roskilde, are exhibited in the Viking Museum.

If u Are in Copenhagen it is about 20-30 min train ride , and then a 20 min walk to the museum from the train station. I enjoyed the museum, but honestly a bit small of a museum, finished in about a hour, I think the video introducing the museum should be updated and could be done with more detail and history of the Vikings history with Denmark, the museum honestly should be put in Copenhagen too , but all in all a fun trip …
