We spent some time walking around this area. It is very popular with a great museum, the castle and the train/ferry terminals. Lots of people around. The old ship building and dry dock areas have been transformed into modern leisure usages.

Italy 🇮🇹 visits the food market in Helsingør with Their traditional porchetta wrapped in modern surroundings. Potatoes fried with rosemary. Good and better if you skip the spicy 🌶 sauce.

Some called it the prity harbor in Denmark! Port of Scandlines ferries to and from Helsingborg and also large marina.
Kulturhavn Kronborg is the common name for the new port area of Helsingor where culture builds on the martinis hour past.
Here you will find " He ", Elmgreen & Dragset's first permanent outdoor sculpture in Denmark. Denmark's national icon - " The Little Mermaid " - received a male counterpart!
Helsingor Nordhavn located north of Elsinore center close to the castle Kronborg. The narrowest point between Denmark and Sweden are right at Elsinore. The port is a large and modern marina, which offers virtually every amenity. You will find both provisioning, sailer stores and restuarants in the port area. Helsingor Nordhavn was built as fishing and yacht harbor of Elsinore in the years 1932-1934 and expanded in the early 1970s to the present size.

We took the train from Central Station Copenhagen to Helsingborg. When you arrive and exit the station into a square, you immediately see Elsinore Castle. We walked the streets passing a variety of shops. Along the shore there’s an unusual work of art, a big fish made from plastic scraps. After visiting Hamlet’s castle it was time for lunch, during which a marching band pasted by. All in all a fun day.

It is a cute Danish town in the spirit of the Middle Ages. Do not miss a Renaissance Festival in October. Lot of performances in Kronborg (Hamlet) Castle. Make a picture with silver statue in harbor (brother of Mermaid). Make a short visit a Marine Museum there.
In town we like the Helsingor Domkirke and St.Marie Kirke.
Delicious bakery Fru Bjerg's Conditori.
Enjoyed the narrow streets and Middle Age buildings.

What a lovely place; I think I could easily live here. The people are friendly, the waterside is beautiful and Kronberg Castle is just a short walk away. It's easy to park a car if you're driving.

We were shocked to travel to Helsingor to see the Hamlet castle (excellent) and charming little town of Helsingor... only to find the entire town closed for the entire day... Granted it was Sunday but this is a tourist town and we were there mid-day to find the streets relatively empty and depressing... would not plan on seeing much of the town if you don't visit during business hours only... quite disappointing

From Copenhagen Helsingor is about 45 mins on the train. The best way to get there is buy a Big City pass for the day for 160 DKK as it's cheaper than a return ticket.
The town is quite small and quiet, especially if you go on a Sunday like we did.
At the harbour is the culture centre which is more lively. There is a good cafe and you can sit and look out over the harbour and the castle. It is also next to the museum.

Helsingor Harbor or known also the Dockland of Helsingor is a great place to explore. There are plenty of things to see particularly if one is interested into culture and art. On the water front you will see the The Culture Yard (Kulturevaerftet) building which very interesting to see. The harbour is great to spend time specially if the weather is warm and sunny. There are many places to sit down at the harbor. It's great location and you will also find
inside IN the modern building is the stylish cafeteria and has plenty choices to eat. At the Harbor you'll have chance to see the The Little Merman or the Little Mermaid' s Brother in Helsingor.

In the harbor area taking pictures, I happen upon this shiny statue and looked it up. Conde nast wrote an article on it. It's brand new and made of shiny polished stainless steel. Get a picture before the crowds surround it making it difficult.
It's Han. The little mermaids brother but he is not a merman but a real boy. Go check it out and the harbor is beautiful with all the boats too.

Hello.
We are traveling to Copenhagen at the end of September 2017 and we plan to visit Sweden and Norway too. We were going to go over to Malmo but after further consideration thought we could skip that and head over to Helsingborg from Helsingor. Can anyone advise or have any good ferry links as I'm struggling a little as I've not been to the area before. We will be travelling on foot.
Thanks in advance

There appeared to be a lot of ferry traffic around the harbour, not sure where they were going. Google ferries from ------ to ------ and you will get lots of info, good luck.

Hello, We will be travelling to Helsingor Aug. 8th (Sunday) from 8 am to 6 pm. Would you please recommend the best way to see the Old town from the cruise ship terminal? also must see attraction or a recommended walking tour package? Is the city centre or main attractions nearby within walking distance from the cruise terminal or would we need to take a bus, train or tram? Thank you

I have been to Helsingor not sure about Helsingborg, maybe that is the Swedish side?

Are there trains that will take you to Helsingor from central Copenhagen?
Written May 10, 2016
Yes, it's a very straightforward journey and Helsingor is the end of the line so you can't miss it. Try to pick up a timetable for the return journey in Copenhagen as Helsingor station isn't very user-friendly.
