Children's author Hans Christian Andersen, known as H.C. in Denmark, has been immortalized next to Copenhagen's City Hall. He's holding a book and cane and has a well-worn lap from all the children (of all ages) who have sat on his knees.

As far as statues of Hans Christian Anderson goes, this has got to be one of the best. Worth having a look if you are passing.

This is a nice statue of HC Anderson just outside the City Hall and sat looking at one of the entrances to Tivoli Gardens.

This lovely statue of H.C. Andersen is right next to city hall, across from Tivoli Gardens. Each time we passed there was quite a crowd posing with the famed story teller, so we were unable to get close unfortunately.

Good to just stop and get a photo. I showed the picture to friends and then learned a lot about the man. Led a very interesting life!

It's almost a hidden gem, you could walk pass it and not realise what you've seen. But as it's on of Denmark's most important characters, at least stop for a couple of minutes.

Interesting side trip to learn more about his fairy tales and other writings. His story of the little mermaid inspired the brass mermaid on the rocks that inspire travellers world wide.

It is located behind the city hall's building. Very charmy and beautiful statue of the famous writer. Good to take a camera shot. Be aware it's busy after 10am.

Opposite the Tivoli Gardens is this handsome chap! You can get a good photo of him looking at the Tivoli Gardens if you get the right angle. Not much else to say!

I wouldn't seek out this statue specifically but we happened upon it while walking down the street and touring the city hall. Lots of people take their pictures with this statue! There was a statue also inside the city hall.

A great statue of a legendary writer, this statue is worth seeing. Don't make it the focal point of your day, but if its not too far from another attraction you're heading to, make a point to see it. Simple, but very nice.
