For once, it's the tourists who get it right – locals almost never experience Copenhagen in this way, and they're missing out on a treat, experiencing the old city centre from a different perspective and seeing almost all the downtown attractions from the water. Canal Tours Copenhagen offer four different tours of the city, ranging from 60-75 minutes in duration, both with or without a guide. They leave from Gammel Strand and Nyhavn, with longer ones taking you as far as the Little Mermaid and out into the Oeresund Channel to the tiny fortress island of Trekroner. On Sunday and Thursday evenings during summer months there's even a 90-minute jazz cruise, with live music aboard the boat.Armed with a strong fleet of 16 comfortable boats, six of which are heated and covered, the Canal Tours takes you through a guided journey along the city s harbor and canal. At least one of the multilingual staff members is always onboard, enlightening guests on the picturesque surroundings. Choose from the various tours available. And for something unusual, go for the Dinner Cruise, where you can enjoy a delectable meal as you cruise along the waters. And if you have charted your own itinerary, then just go ahead and rent one of our boats.

We decided to go on the Canal Tour first and take the Mermaid Tour second and third was the Christiania Tour. It's a great way to see places which you can get closer to by bus later on or when on foot, and you get to know the layout of the city. It was a magnificent day weather wise and... More

Very good tour .. Gives you a very good sightseeing of the canals of Copeghagen. You can see the architect of the old buildings And you will take a good description of the history of them. As well as you can have a very good description of the reconstructed areas of the old docks of Copeghagen port.

Since much of the city centre is pedestrianised, this is really the best way of getting some orientation and perspective. We had a brilliant English-speaking guide on the one-hour trip and the tour showed us the areas that we would later return to on foot. Again all free thanks to the Copenhagen Card.

A great way to see the city and some of its attractions. The boat we were on was not very full which was even better. The tour guide was excellent as explaining things and pointing out things to look for and was even better at telling you to duck etc when going under the low bridges. Some of them were... More

First thing is make sure you take a jumper as it can be a bit blowy on the open water. Great for an insight into Copenhagen history & going under the low brighes is great fun! Some lovely old boats tied up along the canals & tell a bit of the hitory of the region. Even though you go passed... More

We took a mid-morning canal tour on our first morning in Copenhagen and really enjoyed it. It was a good introduction to the main sights of Copenhagen and gave us a chance to "get our bearings". The tour guide was excellent and handed out ponchos when it started to rain part way through our tour. We bought the combination tickets... More

Excellent way to see some hidden gems of the city and get a grasp of its size. Also to realised how far out the Little Mermaid is. An update to their sound system would be nice, but in general a very satisfying experience.

A relaxing a comfortable tour, try to get in a boat that has windows and a roof in case of inclement weather. After this tour then immerse yourself in the city......
